For mobile phone lines.

I have both my Singapore number and Doha number. I changed my subscription for Singapore to the cheapest one. I still believe in being contactable no matter where I am just in case of an emergency.

I have the DOHA pre paid card coz incoming calls (when u are in DOHA) are free, so your friends who miss you can call u. And coz you're not always in DOHA, you don't need to tie yourself down with a line. :)

Good luck to those trying out for the next round of interviews!

Don't worry too much, don't have too high of an expectation, and you'll be fine. Along the way, you'll hear lotsa rumours, some are true, some made up .. (as like everywhere else) .. Just try not to believe all of them unless there is some logic or truth behind it.. Some times, the stories you hear are soo illogical that you wonder if it was a 3 yr old who made it up ..

Other than that, if you do wear contact lens, bring extra solution coz its a tad bit too expensive here (and no coloured contacts okie) ..

They also recently opened up a Bubble Tea store here. Its at the Airport Family Food Centre area.

Just one last advice. It always great making friends with your fellow colleagues, but I realised that what has kept my sanity were actually my friends whom i've gotten to know here who are not in the same company. It keeps ur minds alert, your sanity intact. I am sure you guys are old enough to know who to trust and who not to, but nothing beats having a few of the Malaysians and Singaporeans around .. You'll feel more at home and less home sick .. I promise you that. :)

I will avoid this company with a 5-feet pole (heck,make that 10-feet).

Sure, there're lots of rumours flying about, but hey there's no fire without wind. If your dream is to travel, sorry to say most of the time, Malaysian and Singaporean Chinese are doing mainly Hong Kong and China flights. So for those of you wanting to have varied rosters, DO NOT mention Mandarin in your app form.

Be warn that you have no job security here whatsoever. Qatar Airways treat its crew like 5 year olds. Their mission is to instill fear in each and every of the crew, flight deck included.

No doubt their crew is one of the best in the Middle East. Heck, if you have to put up with so much crap, you better be.

By the way, I'm with Qatar Airways. And hating it. Just waiting for opportunities to crop up and hasta la vista, shithole.

cutiebabe: i need to extract my wisdom teeth (tmr and next wk! gulp!) so i asked ms avina if i could delay it. so she delayed for me to 12th. i will be going on 12th with senzen and hopefully some others. one girl came down with chicken pox! aiyoyo... i hope u faster come!!

im still thinking how many luggages shd i bring. 1 big 1 small or 2 big ones.. senzen, r u confirm bringing 2 big ones? cutiebabe, how many do u think u will bring? <-- even though i believe u will be bringing quite alot of things over ehehe

qatarbabe: how many luggages did u bring over last time?

to all going over: i checked with m1 about our handphones. if u intend to bring ur own spare handphone over to doha, bring a GSM phone. Doha does not support 3G yet. U can use ur 3G phone, but have to switch to GSM if u intend to bring over. Hope this helps.

:???:

'Smoke without Fire' is the correct proverb dear poster.:P
'hasta la vista', shithole.

I think you mean adios - hastal la vista means something else

Teasing apart your post was true to the point and no surprise; one factor in that which has been mentioned before is; people have brought some of these things on themselves by being abusive. Although women in Arab countries seldom have any fun or so it would seem.

True but I think Cocoloco means goodbye and good riddance when he/she gets the chance.

Goodness me ..

Are you really that miserable here?

I am a mandarin language speaker, but hey, in 2 yrs, i finished all the destinations covered by QR (at that time la).. And i also do have a lot of friends who are chinese language speakers like myself but are in europe most of the time ... Eh, for those who are here to earn $$, wah .. i do china flights like maybe twice a month, long layover, long flying time.. hmm.. *kachink kachink kachink* .. And not to mention the clubbing, the shopping .. hehe .. Only Asians know how to have a good time!

This is all a matter of luck, patience & being "smart".. If I were you, I'd go talk to Rostering (trust me, with logic, they do listen .. they listened to me .. ), all you have to do is point out politely (the key word is politely) that you've been in the company for x amount of time and have not done the listed destination. Yes, they do not entertain requests, but ask to be "noticed" .. Don't talk to the front desk, email the ones hidden inside the office like Chris or Mai ...

Of course there must be reasons behind rumours that go around, but like the game of "broken telephone" .. the real story would have probably be really twisted by the time it reaches your ears.. All i wanted to point out was to ... well .. listen to it but with a pinch of salt. Some of it are so down right ridiculous to even begin with . :???:

I know its frustrating. Trust me, I am frustrated. Very frustrated. Its never easy to be positive here but not impossible. I guess there's two trains of thoughts here, either join everyone else and be miserable or heck everyone else and have the best time of your life while you still young.

Yes, they do like to instill fear in all of us but once you learn to "work around it" , its really not so bad.. Hey, I still club, I still drink, I still have quite a bit of a life here ..*heehee*

Regardless, cheer up ok. Its not easy I know. But try okie. :)
