Can anyone recommend a 3-5 day holiday to escape the heat during the 1st week of April? We were considering Chiang Mai but then discovered April is their warmest month! Any other suggestions? Preferably somewhere so we can hike or bike without breaking out in a sweat?
Thanks.

perhaps go to Genting or Cameron highlands in malaysia. Cameron would be a place to chill....lots of greenary and strawberry farms. Not a problem for hiking and biking.

You could head down to Bandung. Quite cool up in the mountains and plenty of hiking to be done outside the city round the old volcanos. Not sure about the biking though, but I do love the food.

I've been up to the Cameron Highlands and compared to here it is much cooler (it varied from t-shirt weather to jumper weather depending on what time of day it was).
Quite a nice place too - the towns are a bit drab but the countryside is very nice and the road up there is quite picturesque too (the old road). Biking would probably be good but hard work as it is hilly, but if you don't mind that, I'm sure you'd enjoy it. There are about 10 hiking trails too - from half hour easy going to 3-4 hour more strenuous.

why dont you fly up to phuket or krabi? tigerairways always have cheap promotion and i think they are having one this week. Go to
www.latestays.com and book yourself to a nice resort at last minute rates.
alternatively, you can fly to lombok (in indonesia, next to bali) via silkair. its a nice place too.
