Rents are going up, where am I going to live????

Post by Strumpet » Tue, 06 Mar 2007 10:47 pm

Our lease ends this year, and from what we are seeing in the market lately, we are expecting a large increase. Currently we pay $4.5K for a nice 4brm cnr terrace in a quiet street near Stevens Road, and the landlord is trying to sell it, so we may have no choice but to move.

Are rents really moving up as quickly as the asking prices suggest? We have a baby on the way, and the wife needs some reassurance things are not as bad as they seem...

Any advice?

Afraid they are, prices are going up  Although there must be thousands of properties, still within your range, and just as good. The key is finding a good trustworthy agent. And to be honest don't be so picky, the radius of the city is no more than 30 minutes away at most by MRT

Although there are reasonably cheap terrace properties in the Tai keng Garden area, I believe. I noticed one up for rent only yesterday! across from the play area and small park! We have an old but cheap 3 bedroom about 1700ft for 800, just risen to 1,000 on private ground with guard. You may wish to ring Jennifer Kuah for cheaper areas 9745-3380 she's pretty good i believe. And the freehold properties around here, are in the 1.5 million to 5 million range.

The area is quite and respectable, and i've seen one or two expats moving into the area, which is mostly locals.

Obviously expat areas, will cost more, agents delight!
