Importing a car from Australia

I'm thinking of bringing my car over from Australia.

Has anyone done this? Is it worth it?

It's nothing flashy. Just a two year old Mazda 6 wagon.

To be honest dont bother. You'll get whacked with import duty etc. ( i think the duty is still based on what the car cost here at new and not the value you declare at customs)
You'd be beteer off selling it in Oz and buying/leasing the equivilent here.

Depending on where you plan to live you may also find you dont need a car here. Taxi's and public transport here are cheap and effective.

Buy or lease one in Singapore, simple as that.

GR & Co are right...the cost is huge.

Just to start with there is a $10,000 fee for importing the car, then they charge you 20% duty on their costing of the car (a Mazda 6 is approx $90,000). Then you have shipping costs, registration etc etc etc ... Oh and the wagon is not sold here either so there is an extra cost for that too. The list goes on...
