Show money?

Post by deaneski » Sun, 25 Feb 2007 2:17 am

What if you have an Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) and would like to look for work in Singapore, will the immigration & checkpoints authority require a show money from you upon arrival at the airport? if yes, how much? I'm planning to migrate there and some say I still need a "show money" of at least SGD 3000 upon arrival at the airport aside from the EPEC. I'm planning to get a one-way ticket only and stay there for a while until i get a job. I just need some clarification. thanks. :?

Better make sure you have a two-way ticket to show that you're ready to go home if you can not find a job here in Sg. The immigration officer would be suspicious if you only have a one-way ticket. They'll think you'd be a probable "TNT" material.

A former graduate school classmate of mine who was transferred from his Philippine office to the Singapore office also made sure that he has a two-way ticket upon arrivel in Changi Airport. This is despite the fact that his transfer has been arranged by his company and his work papers (permits, etc) were already been prepared.

Good luck! Sana'y maging maswerte ka sa paghahanap ng trabaho sa Sg.

Really strange info here I think.
I wasn't asked a single question at immigration arriving on tourist visa & one way ticket ;)

huggybear,

which one didn't you have (to do)?

No return ticket or didn't have to show money?

In any case it's good news :-)

Just had confirmation on another board that since the introduction of an increasing number of budget airlines one way fares this 'ticknical requirement' is not enforced at all & entry to SG also will at the most be an extra question or 2 asked I understand ;)
