Hi!
Some time ago I was looking for picture frames as well. Have you tried IKEA? They have frames in many stiles and shapes and it is very cheap. If it does not work, then there is one little frame shop on south side of East Coast Road, some where between Joo Chiat and Still Road. Unfortunately, I do not remember its name. Another shop I've seen on Tanjong Katong on west side, between Mountbatten and Dunman. They made custom made frames, but you have to check and negotiate prices, usually quite high . Myself, I got good frame from IKEA and adjusted it to my picture by rearranging internal paper part and it worked well.
Cheers.

There used to be an Indian owned shop at Middle Road cnr Selegie Road - in an old pre-ww2 shophouse that used to do quality picture framing for very reasonable rates.

I remember getting a 50 inch print done for about $35.

But the whole place got torn down or something- I was shocked when I went to look for it- its totally vanished, no trace whatsoever.

I asked around and someone told me that the whole lot of shop houses were torn down to make way for road widening for Middle Road.

I guess you could try Little India.

Shop named 'Impress?'[/quote]

May be, unfortunately, I don't remember the name of that shop. Anyway, I believe, there is no other frame shops in that block.
I wonder, is there anything like Yellow Pages
in Singapore, at least it is possible to find something over there.

yes there is yellowpage website, although the one in Singapore I find it incomplete, doesn't give much of info.

http://www.yellowpages.com.sg/iyp/yp/jsp/index.jsp

as for the photo frames, try those gift shops around, or have you tried department stores, ie. taka, metro?

Not sure if this is too far East Coast for you...there are two both in the Siglap area.
One is opposite the MacDonalds, in the row of shops on the south side of East Coast Road.
The other is further away on the same side of the road as MacDonald's. It's across the road from the Dog and Bone Pub. I've taken several things there and they are very good and helpful. Any size you want and type of wood or other materials. Next door to them is an old indian barber shop that has been in some of the local TV shows.
Hope that has been of some help.

Hey!

Try "Daniel's Frame Shop" :D
Its in d East, & i've used his service many time.
As i'm a collector of fine arts & antique scroll, which not every framer can handle such delicate materials... but he is one whom i can safely leave my stuff behind. & till today, his workmanship nvr fails me.

Another one of his plus point is his charges are much lower than many other  "non-so-pro" framer out there

He'd juz crafted a 5.5ft x 3ft frame for my latest collection. A chinese ink painting on chinese rice paper. (u wont believe d $ i paid for it... cos its really a steal!)

He & his wife runs d shop, located at Still Road (Tel: 6440 8687)
Delivery can oso b arrange.

Try it to believe! :P

I've used both their services b4.
D one tat's opp MacD is "The Frame Maker". He can do d usual framing, but cant handle fragile material... My heart skiped a beat wen i saw d way he handled my traditional silk-thread painting...! Beside tat, his charges r not worth his craftmanship.
The other framer tats opp Dog & Bone Pub is know as "A.Latif Frame Shop". They can provide better craftmanship, but i find their pricing abit too high... norm, depend on where d customer came fr... u get wat i mean...

Anw, d above r juz my personal experiences & opinion of these 2 framer. Do pardon.
