Pal are you tweaking the system this evening?

Post by sundaymorninstaple » Tue, 13 Feb 2007 11:41 pm

I cannot stay logged on long enough to post a message in a normal reply. What's happening? I log on and if I type a reply when I hit submit it has logged me out and the login screen pops up again. Can't reply in the Mod's Forum due to not being able to stay logged in! :???:

Back to not being able to stay logged in. I've just about had my fill. It's getting a bit tiring and it's actually "work" to try to use this board now.

It's strange. I think it has to be on my PC somewhere. I don't have any adware/spyware, Norton/Symantec up to date and automatic. (new version 2007 - wonder if that may have something to do with it?)

On the weekend I did a full OS repair and full online updates (XP SP2) after reinstall (68 updates!). Reinstalled Adaware and new definitions which turned up zilch! Running the same Java VM as the office PC where I'm posting from now. (Version 5 update 10).

I also updated the firmware in my NetGear modem/router and did a complete reboot of same. Still nothing! I'm completely in the dark now. I cannot even stay logged in using my alter-ego 'SMS' it does exactly the same thing.

The only thing left to do is a complete reformat I guess.

I don't think it's a problem with the ISP as I use PacNet as do we in my office.

Does anybody out there have any other suggestions or ideas?

I've actually lost more than my fair share of posts, because of this, I'm pretty sure the only way for us to check this out, is for all posters to go into the posting reply mode, leave it for awhile say 10 minutes, and see if it happens to anymore here in Singapore.

Moving the mouse does keep it active and logged in, however its when typing for 5 to 10 minutes, that it loggs, off, so maybe there is also a switch on the keyboard, to keep a live connection. Its when the computer dozes off I think, that it is happening.

So the adjustment may have to be in the computer settings, stop the computer going into standby. while writing. I've not tried to resolve the problem, to tired to look for the needle in the haystack.!

It happens to me so often that for some time I have been drafting posts in Word and copying all the text into the reply page in one go. That way if I've been logged out into the interim another "ctrl v" gets me back to where I was. Previewing first seems to lessen the likelihood of it happening even though I am ugly.

Btw what happened to the "The term Ang Moh is a racial term. Why use it here? Duh!" thread? I did a search and got a list of results but clicking on the links leads me to a message that tells me the thread doesn't exist.

Do we have censorious gremlins?
