Dance Classes...

Post by 2die4 » Sun, 11 Feb 2007 1:42 pm

Dancing is my passion...

I've been here for less than 4 months...

I wanted to go for dance classes but I have no idea which offers what...

I haven't actually spent time looking for anything in particular, but does anyone know of any dance classes here in SG...

Salsa, Rumba, Tango, Foxtrot, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Street Dance?

doesn't have to be a formal academy...it can even just be a group of people with passion for dancing just like me...

You're welcome 2die4

I enjoy ballroom dancing (Int'l standard and Latin), Salsa and Tango Argentino.

Presently, I'm more into Tango Argentino. You're welcome to join my friends and I on Fridays at Abrazos (http://abrazosclub.com/), either for the Music meetup or the San Telmo milonga.

Feel free to PM me if you need more info.

Cheers
:D

Yes, we get together once or twice a week for the milonga which is a tango social or party.

Since I have already taken tango lessons, I would sometimes attend the tango workshops conducted by visiting maestros who are invited to Singapore to conduct more advanced classes or different styles and technique.

Someone new to tango could attend the Beginners' classes once a week plus practica at least once a week. It is recommended to dance at least twice a week if you wish to progress well in your dancing. This applies to whichever dance you are trying to learn.

For a start, you can just come for the milonga to see what Tango Argentino is about, meet some new friends, enjoy the tango music and watch the tangueros dance.

hi okan! really? that sounds nice but i'm planning to go for the course by march, because my schedule this february is quite tight at work...

so i'll be registering maybe in late february then start in early march...

but is asia dance offering a variety of dance classes? or is it strictly ballroom?

coz i wanted to attend a variety of sorts so once i finish one class i can easily shift to another...

Attitude Dance Studio specializes in Salsa. They also offer other Latin social dances like Bachata and Merengue, and Exotic Dance; but not ballroom dancing.

FYI, under the ballroom dance category

International Standard Ballroom Dances covers Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz

and

International Latin American Ballroom Dances covers Cha cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive

If someone mentions the 10 dance, the 10-dance is a combination of Standard and Latin. To take part in the 10-dance competition you have to dance 5 Standard and 5 Latin dances.
