Post by corines143 » Tue, 06 Feb 2007 10:47 pm

Hello SIA Beauties out there.

Pls share your experience with us. Let us know what the interviewers asked you during your first round interview and also during your 1 to 1 interview and lastly the managemt round. THis applies to those of you who got that far.

We are indeed very curious and will definitely appreciate & encourage you to share.

Pls also give us your Advise where ever is necessary as it is indeed very important to us.

Once again THANKS, hope to hear from you gals out there.

cheers

i think the first round is relatively standard, they will ask you to introduce yourself, what you are doing now and why you want to join SIA. they may or may not set a topic for you to speak on. my experience was that they did not set a topic. they only asked for introduction and the two questions. you`ll be in front of a panel of two, ten girls in a group.

If I'm not mistaken, this has been brought up in another thread. Probably you can refer to them. 8-)

Anyway like what majority have said before, there isn't any standard set of questions and they can range from introduction to what will you do when you're in a lift etc.

But of course, the first round is relatively generic. Introduction, favourite movie etc. It's not a matter of how well you can answer but rather how you carry yourself off infront of the panel. I guess most of us have went through this. Don't be arrogant and be observant even when others are presenting.

In management panel, anything under the sun can be discussed. Role play if needed so just be prepared, learn the history about SIA, everything concerning the job and possible questions which they might ask. What questions you may ask, and that really boil down to what you have said. You don't expect ABC here.

Preparation is good but don't over do it. Learn to make reference to what you have said, and of course smile and be humble. SIA is all about team play and they do not want individualistics. I hope you can gather from what I've said.

Last but not least, this might hurts but don't be expected to be spoon fed most of the time. The main thread about SIA has all the necessary information you need. They might deviate a bit but definitely not to the point of irrelevance.

M

this was my post on sept 16.. im just paste-ing it here

for the Indonesian interview, we dont have to do the water confidence test.. just
1. Introduction
2. English Test
3. Indonesian greeting pronounciation
4. two to one interview
5. wait for the email for about a week
6. Kebaya test
7. final interview
8. tea party

o yea.. btw these are the questions they asked me on the final interview:
1. what do you know about cabin crew job
2. what would be the greatest obstacle if you get the job
3. how do you handle passangers
4. tell me about yourself and your family
5. what is your job and how do i like it and stuff
6. how serious you are to be a cabin crew.
7. why do you want to be a cabin crew
8. i forget the rest but it depends on what answers you have given them

basically to really know if you really know what you are getting yourself into, to know that you are really interested in the job and really trying to find out about the job, dont forget to read things about customer service.

my friends got asked:
1. how do you handle Man as passangers
2. what is your weakness (try to give them a negative answer about yourself that wouldnt backfire at you and be responsible for it, you have to know what to answer if they ask you about your weakness like say maybe how do you handle your weakness and maybe how it would affect the job)
those stuff.. and do your homework, read about SIA they will ask that to some people, see how much you know the company, it reflects how much you want the job.

from 400 people that got shortlisted, 58 people got to the final interview and they divided 58 people to 2 days, 29 person each, the first day 17 applicants got accepted from final interview and i heard they eliminate one person on the tea party because she was too quite and didnt interact that much. on the 2nd day (my day) 18 got through, and one of us (she was on my batch) got sent home because she doesnt have a full degree which is a bachelor degree, her degree is D3 so she has to extend another 1 year to complete her bachelor degree. the thing is they write it university graduate on the requirements, she did graduate from university.

itsss toooo baddd you know, going all the way through to getting the job and you only have to do the med check up but you cant get it because you dont have a full degree. i feel soooo sorry for her =(
the thing is if she got shorlisted means that singapore airlines have reviewed her resume thats why she got called, shouldnt have called her in the first place if she doesnt fit the requirements, you know what i mean. and i think they should have appologized to her because its not her fault. she felt terrible when i msgd her, she really wanted the job. well we all do. maybe they dont really check the resumes at fisrt, they just check the pictures???

hope this infos help you guys..!!!
A dream is real only when you try to reach it. Eventho you fail in the process, its a start and you'll get better everytime. I Believe that.

Definitely I will because of you! :D Unless I think otherwise because it's a waste of time on forumers whom cannot take constructive comments isn't it? Unless you think otherwise, please advice me then? :)

I'm sure there are many like that but guess the world is colorful enough.

You have walked right into it, damned good job the interviewers don't know who you are. Don't worry about what M says you have your life and problems to deal with. Deal with them and you reallly won't be concerned about what others think or say. Peace of advice and said with tongue in cheek since it is the amongst the reasons I would never make a steward; keep your cool, if you succeed in your quest it is a vital component of the job in question.
