It's oposite to Seiyu, cross the street, it's raffles hospital. I dont quite remember if there is any restaurant downstairs but it's a small building standing there solely so it's pretty quiet. However, shopping malls are around just blocks away. Ah, I remember they sell cakes and cookies downstairs, and a bus stop for No.48 is just in front of it.

I recommend Robertson Quay hotel for something cheap but "decent".

oh wow, thank u all for ur inputs... and to petit_fleur for taking time to pass by the penang hotel and check it out for me... :D i really appreciate it... :)

initially i wanted a backpackers hotel coz i know its really affordable but when i proposed the idea to my partner, he said that its better that we find another place that can give us a private bathroom for a reasonable price... with ur inputs, i can now narrow down my search to the little india and balestier areas... also the affordable hotel in chinatown, "a traveller's rest stop"... will also check out the "7th storey hotel"...

tried calling fernloft but they told me they dont have private bathrooms... :( hotel 81's bencoolen and chinatown are both expensive as well as robertson quay... but if Lady Luck is on my side, and i get a job in SG, will try staying in those hotels... hehehehe...

to all who have helped me sort out my seemingly simple yet mind-blogging problem (for a first time tourist that is), THANK U SO MUCH... :D i appreciate the courtesy... :D

7th storey always looks quite good to me. Never stayed there but I read an article about it ages ago and it seemed like quite a nice place. I think they have a website.

It is in a good location anyway - right by Bugis, close to Arab st and not far from Little India. Raffles hotel is a short walk up the road and you could even walk to Orchard from there if you don't mind the heat.

I think the Hangout has some private, ensuite rooms. Great location too.

You may need to search on the Cathay site for it.
