Coins to notes

Post by Matney » Sun, 04 Feb 2007 9:37 pm

I know this has been mentioned before, tried to google without success.

Can anyone tell me when and where the banks will take a large amount of coins(I have them counted out), and in exchange give me notes of equal value?

Thank you.

All the big Singapore banks will do this, but some charges apply. Why not just call them and ask?

POSB usually has one or two days/mornings a week for coin exchanging services. Used to be $5~8/per thousand coins I believe. The last time I used it was about 3 years ago after Hurricane Isabelle tore up my farm in Maryland and I had to go back. Decided to cash in my little spittoon of $1 coins. Was almost $2k (do you have any idea how heavy 2000 $1 coins are! :o

you'll have to phone them and ask as they are probably all different. UOB do it on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9.30-11.30. I pay into an account, but I'm sure they would exchange for something 'lighter' if you don't want to pay into an account. They charge something like $2.00 for every 100 pieces, but the first hundred or so is free.

the good thing is that you just bag it up into the correct coinage and the machine counts it. where I'm from you have to have exact amounts in each bag which is a pain as you always have leftovers.
