Tailor

Post by germangirl » Fri, 02 Feb 2007 10:32 am

hi everyone,

I got invited to a local wedding but must admit that I did not bring any dress that fits such an event.
Does anyone know where to buy ("normal" western size) or maybe a tailor?

Thanks for your help !!!

can't gp anywhere in the orchard road area without hitting a tailors, but I would ask around, Orchard charges tourist prices!!!

If not there then, try the UK chains, Marks and Spencers, Dorthy Perkins, and you can find things in Esprit if you are lucky and rummage.

Not sure what size and design you are looking for but friends and I tend to look for size 10, 12, 16 and 18 australian... We had bought stuff at Marks and Spencers, Dorothy Perkins, tangs, robinson, mango (for some cuts), country road, shanghai tang (depending on cuts again), some of the boutiques at malls, metro (look under monsoon when they have nice dresses, blouses and tops), etc. Hope it helps. :) have fun shopping.

I think it's best you try to buy from boutiques or shops. If it's not as perfect a fit, you can always get it ammended. Now is NOT a good time to get tailoring done. Chinese New Year is just a few weeks away, and most of the tailors are just overloaded with New Year clothes to finish.

Hope that helps! :D

size 40/42 is around size 12 ish... you will have no problem but then again, depending on the cuts and design. Some are not meant for human I reckoned :P. I can check with a german friend of mine to see who tailored her dresses for she had stuff tailored and looked really good on her. Will keep you posted.

Have a look in Monsoon at Metro in the Paragon - they had a sale on when I was in there a week ago, it might still be on. There were lots of dressy clothes in the sale and Monsoon do some nice stuff.
