Hello, we have justed arrived from the UK and are staying here for 6 months. We have a 5 month old baby girl, can anyone recommed a babysitter/agency? I don't need fulltime help just a couple of hours a few days/evenings a week.
Also where is the best place to meet other mums? We are living just off the corner of Tanglin/Orchard Road.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Charlotte

Also check out the lovely ladies at the mother/child centres in Tanglin Mall and Tanglin Shopping centre - I've used most of the ones at the Shopping Centre (one on a regular, weekly, basis) and friends have used the ladies at T Mall.

Hi Ma'am,
Could you give more information on the baby-sitting services in tanglin mall and tanglin shopping centre that you mentioned? Could you drop your baby off for a couple of hours say on a weekend or is it a regular childcare centre? How do I contact these places? Many thanks!

Sorry for the late reply. Both centres offer pre- and post- natal classes and workshops - things like ante-natal classes, baby massage, yoga (pre and post), breast feeding workshops, baby first aid etc. Neither centre are pre-school/day care type set-ups. The baby sitters will come to your home and in the case of Birth and Beyond you can also arrange to leave your little one with a baby sitter on-site for a few hours. My mums group used to do an excercise class there and B&B would organise several ladies to look after all the babies while we went next door to do our yoga. A friend would drop her little one off for a few hours while she did some shopping/doctors appointments etc nearby but I dont think you can do this at Mother and Child. Another option is to get a part-time cleaner and if you form a good bond with her and are happy with how she relates to your child you could then use her as a baby-sitter.

Hi Charlotte,.
Have you found a babysitter? You can try Birth & Beyond at Tanglin Shopping Centre #05-18.
They have babysitters that can help you to get a short break or to run your errands. They do in home & in centre babysitting.
You can call them at 67361636 /7.
Have a nice day!

Hmmm. The previous poster sounds like she works for the company.
Just wanted to add that there is a pre-school at Dempsey road that offers on-site baby-sitting an Saturdays (maybe Sundays?). I'm not sure if they are any good as I haven't used them but some friends send their children there for classes during the week. I think it's part of the White Lodge group?
