Hi Nicky,
Just do up my place, perhaps can share some experiences with you.
I've been sourcing out good interior designers on my own for quite a while. Each designer would propose different styles and designs, which most of the time comes with a high pricing. However, most of these designs come with many fancy items which, in my opinion, are not required.
You may check out some interior design ideas from design magazines to have a feel what a tropical and practical design would be. Magazines like Home Decor, Decorations, Design Choice would be good to let you have an idea of what you might want and need.
Also, you might want to consider some free lance experienced designer as they costs lesser as they don't have to maintain an overhead costs like rental, energy bills..etc like those maintaining a big shopfront.
I engaged a free lance designer with the recommendations from a close friend who did her house, and both of us are really satisfied with the design and level of service provided by the designer.
If you really can't find a good one, do let me know. I can forward his contact to you.
Cheers... and enjoy your stay in Singapore!!
