any film fanatics here?

Post by trainspotting.femme » Mon, 15 Jan 2007 9:31 am

salutations, new to this forum. 2006 has been a rather good film year in my opinion, with a couple making it to my all-time-favourites list (not an easy task!) hopefully 2007 will be just as good! so if you appreciate your films as much as i do, you know what to do =)

a few of my favourites include american history x, silence of the lambs, the garden state, trainspotting and clockwork orange.

i can't stand epics, asian horror and too much CGI (whatever happened to good ol' acting and storyline?!)

Trivia Question:

Name the actress who came in a bond movie, an oscar winning movie, and an animation movie????

:D

This is better than six degrees of seperation to Kevin Bacon.

Its Minnie Driver.

GoldenEye - She was the bad singer at the background
Good Will Hunting - It was an Oscar Winning Movie (she was not a winner)
Princess Mononoke - Its a superb japanese anime movie (must watch).

Watched 'The Queen' on a Singapore airlines flight.
Thought it was awesome. The guy who played Tony Blair seemed like a pip squeak at first , but he pulled it off. Helen Mirren was absolutely convincing.

Funny after I watched all that royalty/anachronism thing, I landed in Thailand where the royalty is worshiped and doing somethings in the political arena..........ohhh taboo!!!!!! I'll fly back to Spore tomorrow and elaborate on that , lest a Tank knocks down my hotel door now.

I think it was Kim Bassenger.

I know she was in a Bond and I know she was in that weird cartoon/real life film - what was it called? Dunno, but Underworld did the music......and she's no doubt won an Oscar but I don't know which film that was.

trainspotting.femme - I like most of those films too apart from the garden state which I haven't seen, but based on your list of faves I might like it.

Some of my faves are:

Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, 28 days later, Young Frankenstein, the Man with 2 Brains, Dodgeball, From Dusk til Dawn and those 80s sci fis like Terminator, Robocop and Total Recall (classics :D )

Scotland?

How was it?

I can't remember seeing any that I thought were that great in 06. Casino Royale was good but I didn't see any that I think I'd buy (which is sort of how I rate a film - if I'd buy it and watch it more than twice then I like it).

I did like Night at the Museum and would buy that and watch it again with my children (they loved it).
