Why should anyone wish to give you a consignment, :???: Unless your the MD of Charles & Keith, or is it Keith & Charles, that is!
what can you offer in return, of any value, maybe you run off, with the lot.

Risk assessment based on your few words, is a big zero rating, far too risky, where is your sales channel at, and what kind of collateral have you.?

Actually, there are both benefits and risks involved in going the consignment route. For the supplier the benefit is getting merchandise into the retail establishment. This is a particularly good way to get untried lines into retail where the retailers may be unwilling to invest in inventory for an untested product.

The risks are that the product won't sell because the retailer has little incentive to move product in which he/she has nothing invested. Also, unless responsibility for shrinkage/loss is assigned to the retailer, the wholesaler eats the loss.

For the retailer, the benefit is getting merchandise to sell without making an inventory investment. The risks are generally a higher cost than purchasing inventory. Also, there are generally two ways of accounting for inventory. One way is to review retail sales and the consignor is paid from actual sales. This puts loss on the consignor. The other way is a monthly inventory count. The retailer is responsible for all units not in the store.

We do actually give consignment to a couple of our clients, however, we do check them out first especially their sales channel.!

We would have to be rather desperate to start chasing requests like the OP's!

My point over the OP is the one line request!

 What about for the first time, the payment is 50% with order, balance upon 30 days, this still possible right. :D , no suppliers will give consignment for the first time, unless you are somebody else in the market...singapore payment for first time is COD...

This is a possibility subject to negociation, however like SE says, it costs you more, becuase it's a form of credit and you would still have to be checked out, and secured! Risks to a minimum. I wouldn't want my product reputation damaged or my image, so in many circumstances, there are many rules to consider.

If i could be convinced that you are a good sales channel, then of course I would also support you the best way possible, to build up your sales.

It's a little like running a book at the local shop, do i need the hassle of chasing debt, that is debatable, based on ones own strategy and tactics, to succeed, if one is offering good incentives to pay cash, in the form of discounts, then one should also question, why these discounts are not being taken, and of course there are many reasons.

With a new product, that is not proven, then no one really wants to pay up front, until they can see it move, although the ones convinced, that it will move, have no problem paying cash. So consignment with fixed locations and registered businesses, are much more secure than a push cart, for example.

Although if i wasn't interested in my end customers, I may just dump them on the market to make a fast buck and do a runner!, which does happen.
So almost all that get consignment are checked out for security and sales channels in my book. My image and my brand are my livelihood, so I wouldn't wish to indulge any relationship, that may damge these facts.

I am not a gambler! and if I am selling my own brand, then I need to know that, others are going to represent, the brand and my image and not destroy it, which a competitor, would love to do, right!

Like I say, weaknesses & threats, come from all directions, not only government, one needs to be prepared for the unexpected.
...singapore payment for first time is COD
No not always! Depends again on many factors, some which i did mention, the product is new, and the sales channel, is unsure, if it can sell, If the location is very good, then I would do anything to get in on the act, so I would need to give the sales channel full support, in proving, to them, the product could move!

The guy may well say " show me", and this you need to do, give them consignment and support, to get the product moving, then he eventually pays cah up front, because he want's the discount and the profit.

Consignment, being a form of credit time, is more expensive, and many products are going now where, without support selling and marketing.

Depends very much on the products one is selling, Bread & milk, move faster than Handbags, right! One needs to know if it's a fast moving product or not.
Fast moving products normally have lower margins, than products that move slowly

The possibility for consignment basis is when their products is not selling or when they are new to the market. :D

reputable companies seldom do on consignment basis. :D
