Deeply Discounted Business Class Airfares from Singapore?

Post by Makan24-7 » Fri, 12 Jan 2007 2:12 am

Hi there all,

Does anyone know whether there are any travel agencies or organizations that offer deeply discounted business class or first class airfares from Singapore to North America and Europe? I just relocated here from the US on a 12-18 month assignment and would appreciate help from anyone in the know.

My company generally uses American Express Business Travel but they don't give you really good rates and my company only gets rebates that the end of the fiscal year which don't flow down to the organizations. Back in the US, the difference could sometimes be as much as US$2k for a ticket on the very same flight.

Appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Cheers!
Ron

Getting cheap biz tickets from Singapore isn't easy: last time I ended up flying Asiana from Bangkok, which still saved me a pretty penny. But check out local sites like Misa Travel, which have lists of current promotions: http://airfares.com.sg/

Misa has terrible service though, so best find some other place to book... although I'm still looking for a halfway decent travel agent in Sing.

Misa always gets recommended on my site - maybe it depends who you deal with.

I've given up on travel agents - I do my homework and book myself, directly with the airlines. Used to use zuji but their site is so crap I eventually gave up on them too.

Baf,

I think he's right. Most Business Class airfares from SIN to Toronto are 5 digits ranging from 10,000 SGD to 16,000+ SGD Return. At least using Zuji.com

Ask this Singaporean guy for the best fares, he has a wealth of experience in purchasing them:

TT Durai.
Time will come....

Best deal I got is still with Amex Biz Travel's corp rates - SQ from SIN-LAX (direct flight) business class at S$6577 which is actually very decent judging from your responses below. It's just that I'm used to paying less than US$3k for Trans-Pacific flights on business class. Then again, one can hardly compare NW and UA to SQ and CX, can we?

Thanks for all the input, people!

You got that right! especially for sitting on a bus with wings for 24 hours. For the cheapest business class fare for one I can take my entire family of 4 adults from SIN to BWI in Wash.DC. For the 7 G difference I could stand on my head the whole way!

Agreed - Now with personal screens and a couple of xanax - No need to worry lah and save 8000 bucks. Besides if the plane goes down does'nt matter where you sit.

Historically speaking the tail section is the best place as that usually snaps off. The worst place is over the wings as that is also over the fuel tanks. Course that's assuming the plane isn't blown up at 10,000 m in the air. :(
