Givemeclue,
I don't think you have offended anybody but don't rely on forums even though you have seen the topic you were referring to mentioned. My point is a good much of what you read here cannot be relied on. I have myself seen a good deal of contradictory statements. Given such a situation you need to exert a measure of independence and find out from reliable sources, in this case the airline themselves. I don't know about SilkAir but in the UK various members of cabin crew are on widely differing rates of pay because applicants who joined recently have been given different contracts which may in part be attributable to the coming strike.

Do take care with things that are hearsay;  as an example I used to hear alll sorts of nonsense from colleauges together with incorrect information from people in companies whom should have known better.

Forums are places to share, air your views, etc. Though not all of what is said here may prove true, it is nice to hear what others have to say. Isn't that what forums are about? Listening (in this case, reading) the opinions and queries of others? Thank you, xmischax for enlightening me on the payscale of the flight attendants of Silkair. With regards to research, if you had not reiterated the payscale as stated before on one of these threads, I (and others) would have just that to go with. And that would have been fine. After all, being a flight attendant is not the do-all and end-all. You chose to answer my question. Thank you.

You're sure preparing well for your potential job, let's say in like 3 years? 4 years?

M
i believe in preparation! i don`t wanna go into any job not knowing about the company or what i`ll be doing at all, you know.

Yes but there is a difference between views and opinions and looking for factual information. However, you seem to have got some guidance that you are happy with from somebody local.

you`ve not been offending or anything but what i was trying to say is that information can be found everywhere, just whether you wanna find it or not. and as plavt said, it is rather unreliable.. what i can tell you is that pay for cabin crew is 2 - 3k on the average. as for SIA if you are a chief or lead stewardess or if you are assigned long haul flights, your pay can be up to 4+k. the basic pay is about 1.3 to 2k. the more you fly, the longer the flight, the more you get. but you know, things may have changed like, now. so it really depends.

i hope it helps, no hard feelings! :)

bever, i didn`t see what you wrote but based on the one line plavt quoted, all i see is lack of interest and initiative. i mean, you have the time to find this forum and open a topic, why can`t you take the time you`ve used here to go to silkair`s website and check out the recruitment drives regularly? you can deposit your resume and request the system to send you emails when jobs within your requirements are posted. it`s just a click away, really. i think you need to ask yourself if you want the job in the first place..

thats one of the actions, you show that you are not interested.
interested and keen applications will always know when and where the interviews held. for example: singaporegirl.
she just know cause she bother to check. [she too work 12 hours shift before she became a cabin crew]

precisely. opportunities and chances don`t just fall from the sky in front of you. you need to work hard for your own future. everything is just a click away, nobody is asking you to buy the straits time every saturday, really..

whatever you believe i am, i have no comments. the only thing i wanna tell you is that you really have to look out yourself and not depend on others cos we get information from the same medium as you will.

the most recent silkair interview was on 8th and 9th dec 2006, which is the one corines or somebody said you missed.

japan airlines just opened it`s registration for flight stewardess (sin-based) applications this morning.

In case you have forgotten you yourself said;
if i have the time to check out the silkair recruitment advertisement,i wont be here.
You have admitted by your own statement that you don't check the website, so I suggest you think about what you say before referring to other posters as childish.
