PSP

Post by ksl » Tue, 02 Jan 2007 5:01 am

I'm thinking of buying a psp, for my daughter, although I know I'm only kidding myself! It's for me too!

I have been shopping around and have been told, that there is no real difference between version 1.5 and the other psp's and that they are probably all made in China now.

I have also been told the 1.5 version can download from internet, but surely they all can?

There is a big price difference, between the 1.5 version and the other versions, yet I don't see why, If they can all download.

What is the best version to buy, and what is a reasonable price, I've found the standard 1.5 version for 330$ with a value pack at 460$ and a value pack at 385$, although on ebay singapore, they are going for 285$ although they are Japanese versions.

It all seems quite :???: any tips would be helpful!

Not 100% on this so this maybe Bull****. I understand that 1.5 version will play games on a memory stick you can get the games at holiday plaza,
not sure if it can play the normal UMD disks.
one of the guys at work got one for his son and it was either played the original games and not the copies or copies and not the originals.
the guy he got it off said its posisble to change between the versions if he takes it back to him.
i think its take youre pick copies or originals but not both.
I would ask him but he is still on vacation.

1.50 can play homebrew games. But not able to play most of the latest games as it requires higher version of firmware.

Some might upgraded to OE (custom) firmware. Most popular one is developed by Dark Alex. Current version now is 3.40OE. With this, can pllay both downloaded games and original UMD.

One stone two birds.

If you have purchased a PSP unit, any version but 3.51, you can downgrade it to 1.50 using the latest exploit found in Lumines UMD.

Wow, this must've driven Lumines sales like crazy [conspiracy alert]

BTW, you can also get a DS and a supercard and keep PSP to yourself :)
