Need some tax advice on relocating..

Post by im » Fri, 20 Aug 2004 11:48 pm

I am presently working in India and will be moving to singapore.. During FY 2004-05, I will be working for a total of 175 days in India and 195 days in Singapore. For my working in india, I am receiving my complete salary for 175 days in india in indian rupees. For working in singapore i will be receiving the salary in singapore in SGD..

Please advice on taxability of my salary income as to whether my salary for 2004-05 will be fully taxable in singapore or in india or partly in india and partly in singapore? My company has advised me that they will be sending me as 'Secondement'.. I dont know what does it mean?

All income earned in Singapore is taxable in Singapore. But I have no idea about India's tax system... other than that most countries don't tax income earned when resident overseas.

And psst: India isn't going to know about your Singapore income unless you tell them.
