Always have a smile on that face!
Re: baking schools
If I was you I would consider specialising in Danish Baking, where you can demand a high price for your skills, maybe even take time out and go abroad to learn the skill, off your service free, and many bakers will take you on.singaporerat wrote:Are there any baking schools here in Singapore??
Singapore baking is ok, but tourism getting more and more, and a terrible shortage of specialised cakes and healthy choice bread.

KSL,
Actually I agree with you. I used to have a bakery cafe restaurant/wholesale business in another country specializing in European/New York style breads, pastries, sandwiches, cakes etc...I want to set something like this here but I am looking for a good industrial partner(s) who can handle the baking/production side. I know my concept would do well here in Singapore.

Are you thinking mass production and distribution or joint venture, profit sharing in a chain store environment, their are actually several oportunities, Bread Talk could manage it, i guess although your trading your know how, although they may sell you capacity at certain times of the day, you would have to discuss with head office.singaporerat wrote:KSL,

Mind you, have you looked into the investment opportunity, to setup your own bakery, this is really a good venture and shouldn't be too difficult, with the right sort of backing, although your business does need planning. and your market identified, the rewards ar epretty high!
I don't know if you are local or not, but I believe there is opportunity to outsource the baking, although distribution channel will be something else.
You will need to look at your target market, maybe also supplying hotels with your speciality, although many have bakeries, they don't always have the baker, for such specialised, I mean I have never seen a proper egg custard pie here with a touch of nutmeg!. and also Danish pasteries and bread rolls are just superb when fresh.
Although I do believe the mixing in Denmark is even more commercialised now, with tanker delivery of the dough, straight into moulding and into the oven.
best of luck!
