yes...a lot of students work in restaurants n hotels...but depends on whether ur institution wud allow u to work part time...

i understand that only government schools will allow students ot work part time and that is still subjected to approval.

There is also a limit to the number of hours you can work per week.

It is very possible for a student to get a PT job, depending on the kind of visa that you are holding. E.g. Student Pass, Dependent Pass, Long term Social Visit Pass etc.


Just to inform you, should you be holding a student pass, you HAVE to seek the permission of ICA to work. Else, you would be on the next flight back! Even if it is approved, you will only be able to work 35 hours per month (or something like that).

Also, it depends on the job you are going to undertake. E.g For Babysitting/tuition, you prob need not get approval from ICA. But for Waitressing, it is a little tricky. Does the place sell alcohol?

Bear in mind, you would need a darn good reason why you want to work!
ICA is very touchy about such things. Go to www.ica.gov.sg to download the forms necessary.
