My computer has been recently hit by some virus, and i cant even get connected from my cable. Anyone knows what i can do?
Or any cheap repair computers shop?
Also, my computer has very limited space. How much will it cost for me to upgrade the ram?
Thanks!

Are you really 100% sure it is a virus?kurtty wrote:My computer has been recently hit by some virus, and i cant even get connected from my cable. Anyone knows what i can do?

It is quite likely, you have just lost the internet connection and cannot get online? Telephone your help desk at Singtel or other the company providing your connection.
But first try testing all your cable connections to the computer and modem, switch the modem off for a minute or two, then on.
This happend to me many times and I couldn't get back on the internet, no matter what i tried. they had to reset, the settings from Singtels end, So phone the help line.
Space I believe you mean hard disk, not Ram!
Depends on a few things, like how old your system is, your mother board!
Maybe it's not even worth upgrading if it's too old.

Definately call the help desk first for the connection issues. Don;t automatically presume it's a virus.
If you're sure it is, maybe you should connect your lap top and download some anti virus software. I'm using bit defender ( .com) and it works a treat.
Download it on your laptop and then find a way to get it over to your PC ( burn a cd or transfer by thumb drive) It will at least tell you if there's a virus stopping your system. I don;t think it will clean your PC until you register but at 39 US$ for 2 PC's for 2 years its pretty cheap and you could protect both your lap top and your PC.
Another option is to buy some antivirus software on CD ( funan etc) Most disks are bootable which means your computer starts up from the disk and checks the system. Downside is the virus scan is only up to date as of when the product was boxed.
Upgrading the size of your hard disk is easy. Sort the virus/ connection issue out first and get back to us.
Good luck

Might be the RJ45 plug head in your computer is damaged. A motherboard is the main circuit board which controls all the programmes you want the computer to do. It is a big and expensive circuit board in your computer. That piece of motherboard has already covered up to 20-30% of the total price for your computer.kurtty wrote:well, i tried using connecting my cable to the laptop and the connections works, but not on the computer.
opps sorry, i dont really know the term for it. whats a mother board?
