Take Payoff or Stay?

Post by Dilemma » Fri, 20 Aug 2004 12:03 pm

Never thought I'd be in such a position but I'm being re-assigned internally and I'm not sure whether to take the payoff and go pursue other things or accept the other position and stay.

Payoff - $56k
New position only pays $70-80k a year. (Currently on $112k pa)

Obviously, its a reduced role and I may not be as happy with it. I feel like taking the cash and pursuing other interests, but would like to invite comments on this plaguing issue. Have to make decision by this weekend.

If you have any decent job offers or think you can get one, then take the payoff and leave. Obviously your company doesn't think too highly of you and you'll have a tough time getting your salary back up there...
