Moving with small pets

Post by nudel11 » Thu, 14 Dec 2006 12:55 am

Hi we are a family from Germany and will move next year to Singapore. Our kids have two pets (guniea pig and a small rabbit)and we will take them with us. Now the big question how?
Who can answer the following questions :?
Quarantine for small animals, yes or no?
Where do the animals have to go in the airplane, on top in passengers cabin or down in the cargo cabin? And how will stand the animals the high humidity in Singapore?
Thanks for every advice or any help.

Hi Nudel11,

we will also move from Germany to Singapore next year (01. February) incl. pets

Please have a look at the following information from AVA, should answer all your questions

http://www.ava.gov.sg/NR/rdonlyres/A17F ... alpets.pdf

When making flight reservations, let your travel agent know that you will be travelling with pets! There is only a certain amount of pets allowed on board!! It always depends on the airline if you can take them as hand luaggage or if they have to travel as luaggage. Normally, if the animal is not that big and less than 6KG you can take them on the plane with you.
Further we found out that, in Germany, pets are no longer being handled by the airline themself. This is being handled by www.petshipping.com. Only after checking with them you can get your flight reservation 100%. Just give them a call. They will also send you a price estimation for the handling and also provide the special boxes which you will need. For our 2 cats this will be approx. 600 Euro without the special boxes

If you have any further questions regarding health certificate, quarantine, . . . feel free to drop me an email at gertscher@aol.com
