Peanuts, Peanut Butter, etc

Post by wildrose » Tue, 12 Dec 2006 11:52 pm

I have not given to my 3 year old till now anything related to peanuts; be it peanuts, peanut butter, etc. What is the age to start giving items containing peanuts? I am afraid of allergy, etc. Anyone can share their experiences? thanks.

Generally, any kid from Down Under would taste their first pernut butter sandwitch by 3 years. Not sure about the rest of the world. But, if you are concerned, best thing to introduce it slowly and monitoe for and adverse reactions. Oterwise, you could get a allergy test done. The local doctor would be able to adivise Good luck

Being a Aussie, my children tasted Vegemite, before peanut butter! Give in small quanities and monitor for any reactions. You'll never know if they're allergeric if you don't give it to them.
