Timber Furniture ????

Post by Leone and John » Mon, 11 Dec 2006 2:59 pm

a decision needs to be made ASAP!

I have a house full of furniture where I am trying to decide IF to bring it to Singapore.

As it is all timber (Tasmanian Blackwood) I have been told that it will not be suitable for SP temperatures and that it would be better to buy new furniture on arrival in SP.

Can someone please be kind enough to advise or give me some thoughts on this and or idea's?

thanks in advance.

Not easy! the biggest threat for timber i would think is the humidity and attacks from termites, and worms, if your furniture is not treated for this protection, it will certainly not last very long.... Even the wood that is sold here is not always treated, I have purchased some second hand wood items, that are riddled with worm, whichyou cannot see, without very very close inspection mostly underneath... it takes 3 years for worm eggs to hatch
