It maybe something or nothing, although I can't help thinking, that when I returned to Singapore in August, I started my normal rutine of training at the gym, only to find that my body didn't wish to do anything.
The strange thing is my mind was motivated, but my mucles were not, I stopped and started over a period of 12 weeks and was a little concerned, that i was feeling short of breath, I had difficulty to tie my shoe lace, so I decide to visit my doctor.
She was quite shocked to see my pulse at 45 and my blood pressure at 140, and criticized me for not coming before, for what I thought! I wasn't feeling ill, just my muscles, didn't want to exercise, I considered the problem to be more nutritional, due to my low carb diet, until my heart beat had dropped so low, that I was having breathing problem. The doc asked how do i feel, and my reply was, "I think I have heart failure" I feel something around the heart now, which I never had before.
Anyway 450$ lighter and a good examination at the cardio specialist at mount elizabeth proved my heart to be in perfect condition, she had me wired up to the treadmill, and completed two other major tests, and said your heart is like music, so slow and the beat so nice to listen to.
Not like my normal patients, she said don't worry, and off i went, speculating but not really worried, I thought must be lung cancer, so off I go back to the docs, who suggest X-ray next.
I cannot help thinking just how strange this problem is, because i have no symptoms of cold or infection, and I explained to the doc, its now 3 months I have not been able to do any training. I finished a 14 day course of anti-biotics and felt my breathing capacity improve dramatically, So off I go to the gym, for a slow work out.
I could breath normal for the first time in 8 weeks, it wasn't the heart, but restricted cardio, forcing my puls lower eachday, with no clear symptoms,
Off I go back to my docs, to let her know, I can breath okay now, although my skin is hurting, and i had a sharp pain in my ear, which I recognised has a flue attack, becuase I had it in Taiwan several years ago, it was confirmed by puting a camera into my ears, where the inside was black and blue on the TV screen.
I suggested to my doctor, over the past 4 weeks several people have passed away in their sleep, do you think it could be this kind of flue, attacking the cardio system,
Answer no! OK well I'm still not right, so i need another x-ray on my chest to make sure it is clear, and i said I also want my sinuses checked, becuase wlately when i wake up, in the morning, it feels like a bad night on the beer. The x-ray was positive, the virus is sitiing there in a
crevice both sides, now 700$ lighter, we have actually caught up, with the infectious culprit, but can we kill it!
I write this tonight simply because of the article of another young guy in his late 20's passing away in his sleep, I just feel, that this silent infection, with no clear symptoms of flue, attacks and spreads rapidly to the lungs, turning into what looks like bronchitis, although this little devil, restricts breathing, and the puls drops dramatically, below the normal.
I'm surprised no one asked me for blood tests to test what flue infection it is, I have been treated with anti-biotics for the lungs and now have much stronger anti-biotics for the infection in my sinuses.
But i still have no real symptoms of flue, no runny nose or blocked nose, no coughing, But I recall a bout of real heavy sneezing, which I thought may have been the haze many weeks ago.
One thing for sure, is that I know my body that well, because of the years I have been training, and even when I am super fit, my puls remains at 48 to 50, and when I stop training, it would rise back to 60 to 65.
I still suspect, that this virus could be more deadly than one realises, because if i hadn't have gone to the doctors, when my puls had dropped to 45, their is no doubts, in my mind, that I felt I had heart failure, which triggered me to go to the doctors.
So be very careful and keep an eye on your puls, if you are not feeling 100%, there are no normal flue symptoms until its been through the lungs, the only sign for me was the occassional stabing pain, in the ear and I'm still on the medication for another two days. total cost is now 850$, money still well spent in my book!
If the anti-biotics don't work, then it's a nose op, pump fluid through the cavities! But remember this virus is heading straight for the lungs in my opinion. Obviously not my doctors opinion, otherwise I would have had a blood test,
Is it really all just a coincidence, I wonder!
I friend of mine said, and if the infection doesn't kill you, the worry will! two months lying in bed at night thinking i had heart failure!
