Congrats to all who received the letter from JAL. I opened my mailbox at 12 plus today and I saw the letter inside. I did not receive any calls from them.

Corines and Joyce are right. It's better to invest in a good business. You can get them at G2000, U2 or even Iora (Suntec City...bigger outlet, otherwise Wisma). Make sure your top and skirt are comfortable on you. Wear stockings, covered shoes, do your make up, bun up your hair, speak confidently and SMILE. Do not forget to bring along the letter too :)

Good luck ladies!

Dear All,

Congrats to those who received their letters.

Just wanna add on a few points to what loom had said.
I totally agree with her that you guys must remember this is a Japanese company. It can be quite a cultural shock if you are not mentally-prepared for that. There have been many gals who claimed to be so so so interested in Japanese culture, language, hospitality blah blah blah~ In the end, cannot even finish the bond.

On top of that, there are gals, after they are accepted, suddenly realised that they are not able to bring themselves down to serve and become very resentful about the job. Hence attitude is very very important!

Lastly, regarding the promotion, it is true that Singapore based crew are not able to be promoted to chief purser, manager etc. But I heard that if you are really outstanding and would like to stay in the company, there is a possibility that your contract can be extended after the 15 yrs.

So once again, good luck to all those who are going for the interviews. Do think through seriously if you are really able to take it. ;)

PS: Happy CNY to all!!! May all of you get lots of ang paos!!!

And i believe still high chance alot will get their letters after tuesday, coz today saturday is only half day work.

Dear Estee

I stated that I needed a month's notice as this is what is stated in my current employment's policy. I do not think it has to do with the notice period but perhaps how you answered the questions. However, this is only my speculation. Perhaps give the postman some time, since you have until 23rd Feb to receive the notification. There could be some delays in the postal system as this is the festive season. JAL could have sent out the notification letter but it could have been delayed in the mail.

Dear ww55

In the notification letter, it only states business suit. No mention of skirt/pants. Pants can be part of a business suit too. However, I would choose to go for skirt as it is what you will be wearing if you clear all the rounds. The interview panel may want to visualise how you look in a skirt suit. First impression counts. For me, I will be wearing a skirt suit.

Dear fash_wags

When I bun my hair, I normally take my hair up in a ponytail first then twist it and twirl it into a bun (something like a circle). You can use mousse, hair spray, hair gel, etc to hold the stray ends in place or use hair clips or pins too. You can also use a small hair net to hold the bun in place and then place a scrunchy over the ends.

Another alternative is to go to shops that sell hair accessories like Chameleon and buy the accessories that helps you to tie your hair into a bun. There are a few varieties and they do not cost a lot. Perhaps you want to try out with these and practise to get the hang of it.

Hope the tips help. :)
