stripes I thought u r with JAL??
The last time during my medical check up I did heard abt the 1day LO in the states....but still not too sure if it's true

Ha.. no I'm not but with a budget line. Has consider hoping over to an intl carrier, tried SQ many times but got rejected so wanna try JAl but from my friend, with the current situation now in JAL, dun think is wise.
Probably, I'll keep trying for SQ, hope my efforts pay off one day
BTW, since you did your medical checkup, you should be with them right now?

Cos heard from my friend, soon they'll be cutting down to 1 night LO at SFO/LAX which means you wun have the time to go sight-seeing & reading from the past posting, you should roughly know what's their payout.
Me too wanting to join an international carrier initially if not SQ but after feedbacks from my friend, I'll rather not get into it cos 2yrs bond is neither short with that miserable pay. Worst still I dun get to "travel" around with the cut of LO.
The above just my personal opinion.

well at least you'll still get to travel, its better than being in a budget airline which doesn't have layover at all. of course its not comparable to SQ, but every airline has its ups and downs, it really depends on personal preference. looking at the airline industry now with the fuel hikes and all, i think it wld be quite common to see companies cutting costs.
normally JAL only hires once a year, but last year was an exception with many many batches. i wldn't be surprised if there weren't anymore recruitments for this year. maybe january.

Hmm.. so you think I shld try JAL instead? I also in dilemma cos I've tried SQ couple of times le. Am afraid is due to age problem as I'm 29 this year, turning 30.

i decided not to accept jal due to the same hearsays as well. coincidently i got into sq in the next recruitment so it was veryvery lucky for me. my batchmate who served jal before confirmed these "hearsays". the "zapping" culture is also much worse than sq, but the training in japan will be a great experience. so please do join the airline for the right reason ya...

good luck! sq is still expanding so those who are planning to try, do make good use of the opportunity!

zapping??? different pple percieved differently. for me i think sg based jal crew seniors are really bonded. if there is a difficultly to survive in jal will be that its not our national carrier and therefore our say is often undetermined nor surfaced...we have to follow our JAPAN ah tao~ moreover japanese ladies esp are not democratics and respect too much their culture. say only "HAI!" just do attitude, then channel this injustice to other nationalities, for their strength is bigger then foreign crew, needless to say...sigh~ then again, u will adapt and get used, afterall they are not mafias..and u dun fly alone as a singaporean, at least got one more singaporean crew to share joys and burdens..

be optimistic but realistic...

i think what my friend meant by "zapping" is by the japanese crew? she said sometimes they'd scold her in japanese but their faces are smiling hahaha i find it quite amusing. but anyway for me i'll try to take it positively... TRY lah haha... the only comfort is knowing you probably won't see her again! ya and i agree that people will get used to it cos she told me she got very comfortable with the job after some years.

But i heard that in Emirates the crew are not zappy... haha but just based on what i heard lah

Agree that people who cannot take zappiness should think twice about joining an airline... at least an asian airline...
