Yupyups if you're still in despite knowing all the cons of this job this means you're the real deal! Wanted to voice out what i think cos i didn't want other girls to go in only to realize it's not what they expected, especially when the lady quoted me an expected salary of 3k which i thought was very misleading and unfair. Hope it didn't offend anyone :) Enjoy your training girls! :D

jalcctb wrote:Some thoughts flash thru my mind after reading so many comments in this JAL thread.. Really can understand why a lot of ladies would be so concerned about the pay as all living expenses are going higher & higher every year... Especially a lot of people now have a lot of commitments and a 2k salary might not be a comfortable amount in order for us to survive..
But on the other hand, getting to know another country's way of living and its culture is an exposure as well as an experience. SIA has a much better propect but they are our national carrier so we will not experience another country's culture since we already know our own culture :)
The japan training will probably be some good memories that will store with us when we grow old...
It's all about our own preferences... I didn't get many positive advice from a lot of my friends either cos I am really not young anymore...
But its all about our own decision and choices... Hope you had found yours too... :D
Hee... yeah, finally something positive... and my friend was encouragin me too... since its alwys wat i wanted to do... though the pay is low, but ull juz have to tighten your pants.. enjoy the experience, and make things work positively... besides she made a good point to me... it may open up more doors for me in future... esp. when i'm hopin to go into the tourism/hospitality line... and most impt factor... not young anymore... if dun take it now.. may not ever have the chance again...

hi... im new here. read through quite a few pages of this thread. looks like quite a number of people opted out of jal...

still dont know if to take it up. i love japan. but pay is quite an issue to me. i see that a lot of people is saying that paycheck is like around 2k before cpf. but i would like to ask, there will be good months right?

i shall decide again when my medical results is out.
and just to double check; is it as long as we didnt start the training, even if we sign the bond, we dont have to pay?

btw, as the interview is like quite sometime ago, when will training starts?

Training starts 14 July in SG, we will have to leave to Japan on 24 Aug.
and Yes, u wont have to pay the bond of 3k if u have not start ur training and have signed the bond. It is the experience that you take home, not so much of the pay.......

Pay is quite an issue to me too... But I guess ultimately... it will depend on how badly you want it, and how determined you are. If you have strong determination that this is what you want... you will think positively and make things happen.

I've also been struggling within myself to give up a better paying and stable job, to pursue a dream that I've always wanted... but lower pay and more unstable... But yet I don't wish to regret giving up the chance to try something that I may not have the chance to do it anymore... and since i've already got it... mayb i should just give it a shot... give myself 2 years...

hmmm yes.. experience is important.. but guess in this realistic society.. the pay still counts in a way especially im not just feeding for myself. so whatever it is... shall wait till after medical results out then decide...

just that as much as everyone say the pay is bad, im wondering, there will be good months right?

i think when she quoted 3k to me, it was under the ideal situation. when the economic situation is not rosy, cuts in flights just can't be help. maybe they're aiming towards providing the crew 3k, but for now i would think you shouldn't count on it first :) Just go for the experience!
