I didn't take the job. yes i realized she was dreaming when she said 3k. when i asked about flight pattern, she told me something like 7 days overseas, come back for 2days, then go off again for 5 days, come back 2 days, fly again..... maybe she was talking about the last generation. i think they are getting desperate.

the 2k that you guys are talking about is including everything.. transport clothes allowances blahblahblah... might not even reach 2k, and this is before cpf. to be honest $4.50 an hour is worse than a waitress. $1.6k yeah probably about what a waitress would earn. avg of 2 flights a month with half the time in singapore, doesn't sound like much of a flying career to me.

but again emphasize that the experience would be invaluable. paycheck is an issue to me so if it's not to you then go ahead! :)

If you're concerned over the pay, i suggest u try SQ (tomorrow) or other major airlines like Emirates. Here are some things you might wanna think about

1) you will be getting this same amount no matter for how long you work.
2) you will be bonded for 2 years.
3) fuel prices have up-ed by 50% this year and still rising. with talks about jal cutting cost, the situation is just going to get worse. i remember how people were talking about jal crew getting 2k-3k+ some time ago in this very same thread. so in fact it's already going down...

Not that i wanna discourage people from joining. but i'm just being very straightforward here cos these were the things that went through my mind. however, if you're going solely for the exposure and JAPAN and need money only to feed yourself, then there's nothing to think about. gogogo! Ultimately, you have to join for the right reasons.

Some thoughts flash thru my mind after reading so many comments in this JAL thread.. Really can understand why a lot of ladies would be so concerned about the pay as all living expenses are going higher & higher every year... Especially a lot of people now have a lot of commitments and a 2k salary might not be a comfortable amount in order for us to survive..
But on the other hand, getting to know another country's way of living and its culture is an exposure as well as an experience. SIA has a much better propect but they are our national carrier so we will not experience another country's culture since we already know our own culture :)
The japan training will probably be some good memories that will store with us when we grow old...
It's all about our own preferences... I didn't get many positive advice from a lot of my friends either cos I am really not young anymore...
But its all about our own decision and choices... Hope you had found yours too... :D

hahaha.. yup.. its either u choose interest or prospects.. but its more for an experience and exposure.. i will not get too carried away for the pay since my current co cant pay me at least 1.6k.. haha.. yes dear.. gonna wake up veri veri early.. shall think bout whether to stay at my fren's hse.. hahaha.. havoc at tokyo ya..

valeberry and stars: we shall cya in training!! hahaa.. don worry bout so much since this is wat u want.. go for it girls!!

Basic is $Y * 177.77...
For flying hrs 1 to 50hrs is $Y/hr
Abv 50hrs is $Y + 1/hr

what is $Y? n wad is $Y*1.77.77??

pardon me for my ignorance.

and i read somewhere about per diem.. how is tt calculated?? per nte? if overseas layover frm 2 ntes become one nte.. dat means allowance per diem is less??
