Hi Everyone,

currently, most pple are getting 2 flights a month....and it is not CONFIRM u get 2 States flight, u might even get 2 JAP flights... so imagine u r there like only 6 days in TOTAL out of a 30/31 day month.
----Who's the sway kia? Worse I heard is just a canton 7days + 1 kix turn

on average it could be 1 states and 1 japan. so it's about 10-12 days not in singapore.
---------- This is true.

Do your maths, and u can estimate how much u earn. around 1.5 to 1.6k inclusive of CPF (CPF have yet to be deducted hor...)
----------That bad? 1.5-1.6k before CPF. Breakdown:
Assuming u have no states flight.Doing just a 2 JAP TURN(that is abt 30hrs, 2 nights stay):
Basic: 800(b4 CPF)
Transport: 145(b4 cpf)
Laundry: 100(no cpf deductable)
Abv total already: $1045 (b4 CPF),
Flying hrs: 30hr*$4.50=$135(b4CPF)
Perdiam left: $320

WAH! That is really bad. Who's the sway kia? Worse I heard is canton+1Kix lei, still can fetch abt 1.8k take home. 1.8k. . . :D

The more time u spend in singapore, the lesser u earn. that's the equation. So if u want to join JAL to EARN more $$ than your previous job, pls try another airline.

HI udunowhoim,

Thanks for showing out the calculation...
btw, i think the above adds up together to 1.5k only...
where's the remaining 300??

:( [/b]

Hmm.. some seniors have already went to the places you wanna go. so sometimes they rather jus rest in the room. there are seniors that are nice. it all depends on you because if u have some kind of attitude den you'll get from them but if you're nice, sincere, smiling.. they'll be nice to you too. =)
traveling alone as in you hardly get to fly together with your class girls, once in awhile you'll see familiar faces (maybe seniors or sth).
Last question: 1 crew to a room? Or you usually bunk in with your colleagues for that flight? Since JAL wants to cut cost, If crews share rooms then it will cut down accommodation cost.. :D
yup. 1 crew per room. very spacious! oh god~ please dun give JAL that idea. haha. but i think they won't do that because the crew that you fly with, you dun know them well so i dun think i wanna stay in the same room with someone i dunno ya'know. =D

Jal would be good for those who wish not to fly so often and hv more time of their own. My sq friend who started flying solo ard 2 months ago is hving a really hectic schedule. She was called out on standbys and only hv 2-3 days rest in between her flights. She's complaining about her unwashed laundry piling up becos she doesn't hv the time and energy to do laundry(not uniform of cos, her own clothes & stuff) and it's piling up like mad. Especially when she lives alone, no mother to help her with the laundry! So gals, if you like more free time of your own, to do part-time studies or taking up some classes which you had wanted to for a long time but your previous job doesn't allow you to, and also dont mind taking home a lesser but not that pathetic pay, JAL would be ideal. And hey, plus the free travel to u.s or japan for your daily necessities stock-up, why not? All airlines hv it's pros and cons. You wont know til you join. Definitely.

seriously speaking,it depends on what u want. and u MUST know what u really want. i've a few cousins from SQ. but none of them encouraged me to join their company. (they've been there at least 10yrs)

maybe it's good money and travel to many more places. but if your heart is really out to serve on the plane,i dont think it matters. fact is,i find that JAL is a good company. (despite 'shortage' of flights) it has good/nice crews (overall),not-so-bad benefits etc etc..

what's more,it's work load cant be compared with SQ's. if SQ's service/work load is what JAL crews are doing, then i can say JAL is higher paid then SIA. and they serve mostly singaporeans, which are rather demanding passengers. with it's good reputation, everyone expects best and higher of them.

i still wanna emphasize,it's not all about salary.. it's your passion and heart. it's what you really want. the environment, the company, the crews etc etc are all into consideration. not just $$$$$!!

I wanted to be a cabin crew is because I want to get to travel to different place and not becoze of the $$$...

If both SQ and JAL, I'll get the same amt of $$$(irregardless of workload)
SQ goes to MORE places, JAL goes to US and Japan...

I WILL STILL CHOOSE SQ :D

Anyone JAL seniors out there knows what will happen to the crews if they got married and become pregnant? Will they be forced to resign or they will be grounded? Just in case any of the JAL girls wants to start a family in a few years time...
