Hi Everyone,

would like to make some comments, hopefully it's constructive, as i find that it's not very fair for JAL to "hide" info from the new trainees or trainees to be about what's happening.

=====================
This is for those whom wish to earn $$ via flying.

currently, most pple are getting 2 flights a month.... and it is not CONFIRM u get 2 States flight, u might even get 2 JAP flights... so imagine u r there like only 6 days in TOTAL out of a 30/31 day month.
on average it could be 1 states and 1 japan. so it's about 10-12 days not in singapore.

Do your maths, and u can estimate how much u earn. around 1.5 to 1.6k inclusive of CPF (CPF have yet to be deducted hor...)

The more time u spend in singapore, the lesser u earn. that's the equation. So if u want to join JAL to EARN more $$ than your previous job, pls try another airline.

========================
For those JAPAN lovers, and those whom do not want such an hectic flying life and do not mind the 1.5 to 1.6k pay, then i would agree that this job is for you. why?

Cos u get to stay in singapore most of the time. no homesick-ness, etc. u get the drift, and u get to go to japan. but dun expect to stay for like 2-3 nites. Minimum 1 night stay, lucky if it's 2.

=============
Last heard
1) many senior crew are quitting, becos the rosters are not as good as before, they are earning lesser

2) Crew with bond of 3k, are paying up and leaving, becos it has been like 5-6 months that crew are getting 2 flights a month = lower pay

3) Crew with bond of 10k, are paying up to leave, becos management tell them, they need pple to secure more routes, which is true to a certain extent but do note that HKG crew are also flying the same routes and more, than SIN based crew. so the pie is shared between more pple.

=============

Advice :

- Do your homework to choose if JAL is for you.
- Everyone has different priority and preference.
- Dun be influence by others, think for yourself.
- Dun be pressure by management when u get in, it's a democratic country, dun like then leave before u gotta pay 10k bond
- With increasing fuel prices, airlines will be cutting cost and routes, last heard JAL wants to only have 1 nite layover for States flight (so u will be more tired, and earning lesser)
- Good luck to whichever routes u have chosen

I think when you're under OJT, please go have fun with ur buddy. Seniors may or may not go out with you. when you have ur fren with you, go places to explore so that when u start to travel alone, you know how to go and stuff.

i'm actually thinking of studying at the same time fly. i know one senior who does that. it can be done but sometimes you may have to sacrifice your lessons to take flights because if you cancel ur flight or postpone it, you will either not have a flight or u may not get back the same flight (meaning from a US flight become KIX flight) you know.. = earning lesser.

In SFO, the hotel that crews staying is near fisherman's wharf where is one of the tourist attraction. You can take the boat to Alcatraz Island and Golden gate bridge. Just outside the hotel there is a bus stop where u can take the bus to the town area. Is ard 25 mins and cost ard USD1.50. The bus will take you to the chinatown too. Nearby the hotel there is fast food call "in-n-out burger" which is the first drive thru fast food in USA. MUST TRY!

In Osaka, the crews is staying in a hotel called nikko. It is walking distance to the airport itself. You can take a bus or train to the Rinku Town where is a factory outlets or you can take a bus to the Aeon Jusco which is a shopping mall. Both cost ard 200 yen ($3). There is nothing much you can do in Osaka as the stay is pretty short.

That's all! Enjoy!
Hi there.
In SFO rite. the boat to the golden gate bridge can be any boat along the river issit? i heard dunno what pier 39? whats that? and what buses go to the town area?

den in KIX rite.. the bus you say, issit the hotel bus shuttle that fetch you straight to the factory outlet or issit the hotel bus shuttle fetch you to the train station den you take the train to the outlet?

thanks! i'm going this coming wednesday. so doing homework now. LOL

So its serious that JAL crew are getting 1.6k/month???

I can't really tell you how much we're earning. But what i HEARD.. it's roughly that much.
Girls who are joining JAL should consider whether it is money they want or the unique experience you get from learning Japanese language and its culture through the trg in Japan. If its money you girls are looking for, trust me, JAL is not for you.

Actually when you walk along the pier, there are alot of boats going there. If u are looking for those tour package, u need to go near to the pier 39. It cost more but more reliable.

As for the KIX bus, i can't really remember but if u are going to take a train to Rinku town, it will only be one stop away from the airport station. U can always check with the hotel staffs.

Oh no that's rather disappointing to hear. granted that most of us here were dying to get the job, practically speaking the salary is still a considerably important factor. maybe it was a blessing in disguise that i didn't get selected afterall haha (trying to comfort myself here :lol: ).

But i agree that the experience is incomparable. Different people have varied needs and ambition, so you gotta think for yourself!

Assuming u have no states flight.Doing just a 2 JAP TURN(that is abt 30hrs, 2 nights stay):
Basic: 800(b4 CPF)
Transport: 145(b4 cpf)
Laundry: 100(no cpf deductable)
Abv total already: $1045 (b4 CPF),
Flying hrs: 30hr*$4.50=$135(b4CPF)

:cool: LA n SF still sin base share 2 days out of 7days with shanghai and hkg. In sept/oct change to 1 night stay.
JAL had their profit by taking away the benefits from crews :cool:

Hmm.. some seniors have already went to the places you wanna go. so sometimes they rather jus rest in the room. there are seniors that are nice. it all depends on you because if u have some kind of attitude den you'll get from them but if you're nice, sincere, smiling.. they'll be nice to you too. =)
traveling alone as in you hardly get to fly together with your class girls, once in awhile you'll see familiar faces (maybe seniors or sth).
