Shouldn't it be standard that the drain pipe be routed back into the unit? u can contact BCA to check if there's any requirements.

Don't know about condo's or private housing but in HDB flats it has to be re-routed back into the flat. e.g., the bathroom or utility room. They can actually be fined if it's an HDB flat.
