Where to Travel that is cheap during Dec?

Post by JLoy » Thu, 16 Nov 2006 11:28 am

I am planning to have a holiday with my boyfriend during Dec'06. He can only take leave during last week of Dec'06.

Can anyone suggest where can we go? Our burget is less than SGD 600 per person. We plan to go for a 4 day trip. I been to BK last year. So don't feel like going back to there.

Thank you for sharing all the information that you know.

Cheers :D

Very tough time to be traveling with that kind of budget. Flights are full and hotels are heavily booked up, so there are very few bargains to be found.

I also know that Dec is the most super peak period. That why I post a discussion here to see if anyone got good suggestion.

But really thank for all the comments.

Please do update me before mid of dec so that I can still consider where to go and book my holidays.

Cheers

Best Time to travel during X'mas

Post by tchristee » Thu, 16 Nov 2006 4:44 pm

Hello,

In fact, I just book my X'mas holiday too. And you know what? I paid for S$430 (incl. airpot tax) for 4 stopover - i.e. Sin - Jakarta - Yogyakarta - Bali - Sin.

My trip is from 23/12 - 2/1, total 11 days.

2 days for each destination, except 7 days in Bali. I really got a good deals as I total will take 4 times flight. I intended to pay for low cost accomodation and foods over all these places too.

Where to Travel that is cheap during Dec?

Hi tchristee

Actually I also planning for these dates but its too long and I am afraid that we might over spend it. Where do you book from? Do you have more details for the trip? Like where to stay & walk around? Will it be boring for a guy to go there? 7 Days in Bali can do what? I thought there is only a beach resort? Where is Yogyakarta, as I nv heard b4.

Thank you for the advise!

Cheers

cheap accomodation during X'mas

The purpose for us to go to Yogyakarta is to visit "Borobudur Temple" where listed as one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites also. You may check out this website for more details.

I may go to "thousand islands" near Jakarta, I think is beautiful there.

FYI, I booked ticket from Garuda.

Do you love beach and sun? 7 days in Bali, too me, is still too little. it's depends on whether you like it and how you spend your time. No regret if go to Bali. Bali is top island in the world.

Maybe hotel per day cost about SGD20, if you intend to have sightseeing in Bali, I can recommend a tour guide for you,S$40-50 per day.

Don't doubt about food price in Indonesia, is very cheap, depends if you want luxury or simple meals.

Try www.skyscanner.net

Just put in your starting point and dates and it will search all budget airlines returning the prices for each country!

Helps me! 8)

if you are planning for 4 days, a budget to average hotel with breakfast around that period will cost at least sgd 75-100 for a room per night. so that is about sgd 300-400. if you budget for another sgd 100-150 for meals for 2 people, your acco cost will be about sgd 400-500. that leaves sgd 700-800 for the airfare part. so you are looking at agd 400pp. budget airlines would be all full by now. regular airlines that period this fare you can get only the cities like kl, bkk, jkt etc. off beat touristy locations would be more expensive. or you can look at a road trip to somewhere in malaysia and spend the extra funds in lengthening the holiday !

Patrick, I think I love you. I saw that mentioned on BBC World when I was in the gym the other day (we don't have cable - what a treat doing my cardio is!) and promptly forgot the name.

We booked a couple of weeks ago to go to Lombok on 30 Dec - we found flights in the region extremely limited.

Not sure what I'm supposed to be looking at. Perhaps I should have said flights to places we would want to go, on or around dates we wanted to go, without going via Timbuktu.

I find most of South-East Asia a pretty well interconnected kinda place, but if you've got some particular region in mind do tell and I'll see what I can come up with. Most of Indonesia's airlines are near-invisible on the net and it's a real pain even finding out schedules, much less booking them.
