Confinement nanny in Singapore

Post by magic8 » Mon, 13 Nov 2006 3:19 pm

Hi!

My husband I will be moving to Singapore next month when I will be 25 weeks into my first pregnancy.

I've sorted out the hospital and doctor, but still need to find a confinement lady to help me through the first few weeks after birth.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an English speaking confinement lady, or an agency?

Thanks!

Confinement Lady Agency

Post by truebliss » Wed, 22 Nov 2006 12:43 pm

Hi all,

Juz to share my story here, Confinement Lady from agency is more reliable. U need not worry if she would run away after undertaken yr deposit...Neither, would you afraid that she would ran away after one week from yr home nor will she steal anything from your home. I Don't leave it to chance! Engaging an agent will eliminate all the grey areas to ease your worries. My CL was from an agent, she's very professional, I was approached by this agent - Doreen. She knows i was looking for a CL and recommends a CL (Ah Hoon) from Ipoh. Initially, she arranged for conversation w the CL 1st then arrange for her to come and standby two weeks b4 my EDD. So I paid her agent fee of $300 as $200 was 2 obtain work permit for the CL. Shortly, after delivery, I was amazed when she turn up with a hamper on hand at my maternity ward to congratulate me and brought the CL with her. I don't remember telling her which hospital i was deliverying my boy.... Thereafter, the CL stays with me at the hospital and later I bring her home after discharge. The CL was experience was superb, she would ensure i get lots of rest and my BB gets 101% attention at all time. She also ensure my whole house is kept clean and sparkling everyday. I was very amazed and appreciate her help. Her cooking was also very amazing! Tasted better than the normal confinement food, she would ensure I have different types of confinement menus each meal. I really hope that she was my mother-in-law!? Ha... Juz joking. At the end, I still had to ler her go... I don't believe I actually drop a tear for her when she left! I gave her an angbao of $188 when she left on Sept. Bottomline I had the most interesting confinement period everyday is an experience and there's free BB lesson for me, it's money well spent! Kindly email her: [email protected]

Hi Truebliss,

Not sure how long ago you use her service but apparently the fee for the Confinement Lady is $2,200 (of which $500 is the deposit). This seems a bit expensive.

Confinement Lady

Hi Bonnie,

Don't be alarm... The price was normal if I need to hire someone who needs to know/speak english and she is a Singaporean. $500 deposit will ensure the CL turn up. A ‘NO SHOW’ often occurs by Freelance Nanny when the time your confinement is to start. It could be someone paying her a higher rate than you OR she is tied up with her other assignment.

The normal rate will be like this if you are considering to hire a M'sian Chinese Woman - $1,800 + $200 (applying work permit) $100 (agent) + Red Packet (Range b/w $50 to $188) depending on the svc provided and yr level of satisfaction.

Although you may consider 'Cheap CL' as it's your friend and relatives’ recommendation (with good intention), often this will occur: “My friend had this Nanny and says she is good,……but it turned out to be totally the opposite”

I used Baby Breeze (tel: 6397 6716) in Novena for my confinement nanny who I loved. They specialize in child-care doula's/confinement nanny which I liked. The owner is Lilly who used to be a midwife at Mt. E.

You can google Mrs Tang, she got good confinement nanny. But you got to booked half a year in advance for the good ones and interview them. There are one or two not so good ones. But she is quite compromising, she will change for you if you are not satisfied. The older ones are better and more experience.

Post by mommymommymommy » Thu, 08 Dec 2011 3:04 pm

I recently finished my confinement with a Singaporean English speaking confinement nanny. Very caring and responsible. She even help me bring my baby to the hospital for the blood test (my baby is down with jaundice) in the first 2 weeks.
Got her through [sanitized by the Moderator]
The owner, [sanitized by the Moderator], has a number of English Speaking Singaporean confinement Nanny and even a few who specialises in vegetarian confinement.
