Hi,
Does anyone know of a Singaporean credit card that has both air miles and travel insurance ?
I have found a few that have travel accident insurance (so if you lose a limb or die you get a cash payout) but have not yet been able to find one that offers free comprehensive travel insurance if you buy your tickets using the card, so you are covered for medical evacuation, hospital costs etc.
Does such a card exist ?
PS Amex withdrew their cover from 31/12/05, so that's not an option any more...

Almost all credit cards here offer some sort of travel insurance, but I certainly wouldn't call the coverage offered "comprehensive", and neither would I rely on it for anything even moderately serious. I pay about $300/year for global coverage and no surprises, and consider it at fairly small investment for the security gained.

It would appear that you did not read the OP's post carefully. I believe OP is looking for one that has BOTH air miles AND travel insurance.

Here's one: ABN AMRO Plat. S$500,000 coverage for airfares charged to the card, plus the option to convert points to KrisFlyer, AsiaMiles, etc. (Conversion rates aren't as good as Amex's though.)

Just check the details online of all the bank creditcards (ABN AMRO, HSBC, Citibank, OCBC, DBS, UOB etc etc) and you will find more than a handfull of them having this combination requested.
it's a 10 minute job to find out.
Time will come....

Hi,
thanks for your replies - I have spent several hours trawling through the Amex, UOB, Citibank, HSBC, OCBC, and UBS websites and still cannot find a card that offers travel accident insurance - insurance that covers things such as emergency medical evacuation, lost luggage etc.
Does such a card exist in Sin ?

Why not just buy some travel insurance. There are some policies that are relatively inexpensive that offer very good benefits, including evacuation.

What part of "ABN Amro Plat" didn't you understand?

In the small print you'll find "Section 2 - Baggage Loss" and "Medical Transfer ... by road or air ambulance" (although I'm not entirely sure the coverage offered suffices to pay for it!).

I emailed ABN and they kindly emailed me the detailed description of the card, and as I suspected it does not cover emergency medical avacuation or medical cover, other than things such as repatriation in the event of death.
It's all in the details...
