Commute from Singapore to Johor

Post by marhanspa » Fri, 03 Nov 2006 11:24 pm

After reading posts here, I can tell commute from Singapore to Johor is pretty bad. Could somebody tell me about how long it would take in the morning. Let's say leaving at about 6:00am to 6:30am from Singapore, maybe Orchad area to Johor and back in the evening 6:00pm to 6:30pm.
Job will be in Johor, but we're trying to figure out if it will be OK to live in Singapore instead.
Would the american school area be closer to Johor?
Is there many things to do in that area?
Thanks for any info you'll have.

Singapore American School is located at Woodland, which is the new town close to Johor Bahru. The new Woodland regional centre at Woodland MRT (used to be just around the immigration check-point). This area is pretty new with 1 large shopping mall (Causeway points), with retail tenants like Metro, Courts, Golden Village Cinemas. Obviously it is faster to reach the check point from Woodland than from Orchard. Not sure about traffic at check pointl, though. But I think 6.30 am should not be that bad. Returning at 6 - 6.30 pm could be quite bad. Traffic usually build up after 5.30 all the way to the night (<7> 7 for those returning to Singapore after dinner or shopping in JB
