Bank account / Student's pass

Post by oriolh » Tue, 31 Oct 2006 5:16 pm

Hello,

I'm entering singapore with a student pass (exchange student at SMU), and i'm thinking about the best way to get my money there

1. can i open a bank account with my student pass?
i read by here that employee letter is required

2. are there high commissions for transfer my money from spain to singapore or viceversa?

3. any better alternatives?

thanks in advance

Yes and yes. Easiest and safest is to just keep your money in your Spanish account, and withdraw it from an ATM when needed (in large chunks, that way the commission is less). Of course you need a Plus/Cirrus-enabled ATM card for this, but most all banks provide this these days.
