Indie music night - fed up with Michael Learns to Rock ?!?

Postby simonroxy » Mon, 30 Oct 2006 6:27 pm

ARE YOU tired of doof doof, Whitney, Michael Learns to Rock, canto-pop etc etc ? :(
DO YOU like being in bars where they play non-mainstream music ? :(
DO YOU wish there were more like you who love Pulp, Suede, Flaming Lips, Interpol, British Sea Power and all those other bands you never hear on the radio in a Comfort taxi ? :(

Then gather with like-minded souls on the evening of Friday 10 November. Venue(s) to be determined but likely to involve sympatico places like Ice Cold Beer, potentially with prior arrangement with the management to ensure the music is agreeable if numbers are good.

I'm testing the water here - don't know how many of you are out there. At the moment this is a one off, but if there's enough interest I'm thinking it will become a once-a-fortnight or once-a-month event.

Have you been to a bar called "Prince of Wales". Its in Little India (I am not kidding). Its a backpapers bar! Clean, neat! nice ambience! A BBQ at the back! laid back attitude and a venue for good local indie bands to perform and showcase. I was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of music and the extremely friendly bar and laid back crowd. Its an institution! Although, the bands dont do much cover, they really do well and it has always been a chilled evening the times I went.

Its owned by an aussie who hit the mark with this bar!

Yes I'm onto the POW Guru - but thanks for putting it front of mind for me. Great beer also. It might be the right sort of venue for this ...
