Job for a experienced Unix (Solaris) Administrator

Post by gnom » Fri, 27 Oct 2006 8:42 pm

I would like to move to Singapore. How difficult is it for me, 8+ years experience as Sun Solaris Administrator in a big bank, to find a well paid job, The future company would also have to sponsor my visa and give me a expat package.

What do you think?

Thanks for your comment about this topic.

Good luck on the expat package. It is typically only granted by companies that are transferring current employees and even this practice is dying out.

Hard to say. Specialized experience might be a ticket, but there are plenty of well qualified locals who can do the job. And, if a company wants to look at foreigners, Indians, Chinese, and Vietnamese will work for a lot less than you will.

So, it depends what you bring to the table. Your best bet might be to hook up with an MNC that will transfer you to Singapore.
