Proud Steward

Post by Jesey » Wed, 18 Oct 2006 5:17 pm

Just sharing.. I met this tall, fit, good looking guy at gathering with a girlfriend. We were introduced by some close friends then something about him annoys me very much. His Attidue.

While we were chatting suddenly came along this topic about airline, stewardess, steward. Never knew that this particular ''man'' was a steward, my girlfriend then shared her experience with one of the regional carrier as a stewardess. Immediately his response was to doubt her words. He questioned her for which university she studied, what course, what do they major in. I mean this is totally non of his business! then he even comment how huge her body frame is and said how could it be possibly she's being selected. Crazy!

In the later part, the most annoying thing he asked: 'do u want to look at my aircrew pass?'

I don't want to comment which airline he's from and I have heard alot about Steward and Stewardess good and bad comment. But what is it actually so great about boosting their profession?

I've met aircrew who are nice, humble and sweet. But sad to say there are such people out there destroying the glamorous image.

That is all it is an 'image' aircrew are people who like anybody else have their own individual personalities some of whom you would not like as a person away from work. I doubt that the situation you quote above destroys their image as that is your own personal experience related to just one person.

i've met some aircrews myself, in fact most of them do not reveal their proffesion :)
don't worry too much about it ya!
think about it, if he wasn't an aircrew, he might be boasting about being a general manager or whatever~ lol

Basically the people who I know who do these have low self esteem - They need to comfort themselves by appearing better than what they really are. To be frank, the job is just a waitress to a certain extent - with a bit of admin and a bit of everything. Some people feel insecure and to cover it up they come up with a lot of bullshit and ridicule others. It's pathetic. If you were such a great ivy league scholar - WTF are you doing flying a crew? In Asia being a FSS or FS is a big deal - but in the States, it's like "So what..."

I've met a lot in my career. For me, I always never bring up the topic on my aviation career. In my current line, it does make people raise eyebrows or wonder what the freak was she thinking.

Don't worry - There are genuine crew around - You just got to look harder.

Look at my crew pass ? - I think he probably has a tiny penis and has to resort to showing his crew pass or he's new in the line - Newbies always looove to brag.

Sigh!

This guy is gonna get hated by everyone..Even his peers..Trust me he won't last in the airline for long if he continues like this...I think he just wants to be "KNOWN."Some people....Ahhh..Nevertheless,I wish he wakes up his idea..

And who is he to comment about others...I bet he's not the only good looking steward in the airline industry...There are more gorgeous looking stewards in other airlines like SIA,Etihad,Emirates,MAS..etc..If his superior finds out about his cocky attitude I think he'll be sacked..Imagine if he does this to the passengers...Your body frame is not acceptable as a FSS..Get a life...

If he thinks that being a steward is all about looking good and wooing girls,he chose the wrong job....Well looking good does play a part but that's personal..

Ha, that's true! You know, there are girls who also assume that only SIA stewardesses paint their nails red.

How... silly. I'm sure most of the SIA employees don't think they actually own the colour red, yes?

well said,

i know of a few stewardess also who think they are an elite batch of individuals..met them at a party and got totally disgusted with their attitude and all...what do these stewardes actually think of themselves..the way i look at it they are just plane waitress...get me this and get me that.....the reason for them being slim and pleasant is just to serve this 1 purpose...WAITERING....that's all.

Next time one of these kind boast or talk with attitude just remind them about their job.

I think it just gotta do with Asian views of being a flight stewardess

In Thailand it is like a wow job - If you're one - it's like wow - your daughter must be really wow wow

In Singapore and Malaysia - Its similar except some girls who are basically freak up bitches end up destroying the names of others.

Standards are dropping for sure if you look around at a carrier - No brainer - Mass recruitment ends up with lesser quality = Lower service standards.

In a party - I do see some of these girls who basically act as though they are mighty - They only become docile mice when another senior ranking crew actually comes and shuts them up.

You just need to realise these bitches are just a sorry pathetic state - Just walk away and don't waste a cent on them!

It's a waitress job - with a bit of everything :) - Remember - Not only waitressing - It's A BIT OF EVERYTHING

Why do I say that - Some people really pride themselves on being crew - for them its like elitest - Reason: Some sucked in school and they find this job like I'm so special (aka Kylie Minogue - I should be so lucky song)

There are nice crew around :) I shut the bitches up with - Hey, u crew, clean this up for me? or "Is it true you cleaned up the shit so glam being junior crew huh?" Always shuts them up!

True and quite noticeable, a remark I find being made quite often about SIA, competition with the budget carriers is no doubt the cause.

I'm a crew, but definitely i wouldnt want a steward as my boyfriend.

I would prefer a guy with high flying career.. instead of someone heating meals, clearing trays & cleaning toilets in the aircraft, thou this is what i am doing now.

Some guys join for awhile just to see the world & they will leave after their bond..

I flew with some stewards who reali turn me off with their thinkings..

was chatting with this steward, & we were talking abt staying long in this line..

the answer he gave me was 'of course, which job outside pay u as much as SIA do'... 'easy job, go home no need stress'

oh my god.. such a naive guy.. i detest guys with no ambition..

There's nothing glarmous about this job..

Most gals/guys want to join the airline mainly becasue they want to see what's out of Singapore.. other than that, it's just another job..

SIA keep hiring people cos the turnover rates are high..

Many people left once their bond are over.. Thou u may earn a slightly higher salary than your peers in other industry at the moment, but in terms of yearend bonus we will lose out.. Your peers are going to climb up the corporate ladder...

I think you kinda have the wrong mentality... What happens if a person's ambition is to serve... Different ppl have different ambitions and perspectives about what is a 'High FLying Career'... I agree its just another job.. but isn't any other job also ' just another job'... Anyway that my two cents worth... Hope i haven't offended anybody... Coz i think everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

cheerios

I am not offended. U are entitled to your opinions & i hope wat i have written haven offended anyone as well..

The mentality that i have is my own opinion i had all this while...

it's just personal opinion that i feel stewards are nothing great, & their jobs scope simiar to mine are nothing worth to be proud as well..

But definitely being stewards is not equal to high flying career.. There are people whose dream is to serve, but still.. i prefer guys who dreams 'is not to serve' onboard..
