Online links for Department stores.

Post by RimBlock » Wed, 18 Oct 2006 12:00 am

Hi,

I am after some or even just one link to a department store who has a catalogue online with prices.

I cannot find any with google and after spending the day searching the forum seem to be no closer.

What I want to do is work out costings for stocking a home using rough figures for things I like. Getting ideas of prices of things from TV's to fridges to sofas (I am in the hate Ikea camp I am afraid) to beds to cooking utensils to sheets etc.

I am just after rough figures but what I would buy is very much, like for all people, a matter of personal taste and so would like to be able to browse from the UK and work out a budget to set aside.

Many thanks
RB

Why do you need to stick to a department store? A shopping aggregator like shopping.yahoo.com or froogle.com will let you search across thousands of online retailers.

Well only becuase it will be quicker and easier to look at one site with lots of different things than at lots of sites specialising in differet types of items.

I can also happily indulge my impulse buying nature with things I didn't think of but see in the one site and this would be quite limited otherwise.

There are many such sites in the Uk but to my surprise I am finding it hard to locate any in Singapore or am looking in the wrong places (google).

I will have a browse on Yahoo though thanks.

I can sort of understand why it is done, they want to get feet in stores but surely it would be a major benefit for shoppers to be able to compare prices before choosing where to go to get that great deal.

I find this really surprising for Singapore who seem to be so advanced in most things but lacking in this respect. Such a large potential market missed.

Maybe someone should approch the various stores and advocate the benefits of puting details on line :D . I for one would rather not have to go traipsing around multiple stores wasting a day looking for a good deal when i could spend an hour online to find the cheapest place which has what I want.

I did find this place for A/V and white box goods http://www.tolayonline.com.sg/index.asp but please note I have never used them so I cannot pass comment on them. It just gives me an idea of prices for certian things in Singapore.

Cheers
RB
