Where to watch rugby (e.g. Heineken Cup)?

Post by AnnaTh » Mon, 16 Oct 2006 8:45 pm

The start of Heineken Cup is approaching fast... I've checked all the sports channels I could think of but can't find one that would show any of the games, not even Star Sports which occasionally shows some rugby.

We're still new in town so I don't really even know where to ask. Please help! [-o<

Try checking with Nick down at Father Flanagan's in Chijmes - he's into his rugby and promised to show all the rugby he could.

So I rang Nick, and he indeed seemed to know quite a bit about rugby on TV over here! But the bad news is they don't show the Heineken cup. Apparently last year they only showed the final :(. I also noticed on the Heineken Cup website that French TV is showing some of the French games, which I hoped might be shown here too on TV5 or somewhere, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Nick did say that he's currently trying to find out which channel is showing the England v. Australia game on 5 Nov, and he'll definitely show that at Flanagan's. The hubby and I will definitely be there!

The Irish Pub at East coast park! They are showing Australia vs New Zealand tomorrow night at 11pm!

Hope this helps!

Debs - thanks for the tip, though I have to say I'm more of a rugby union (instead of rugby league) gal myself. My fault, I should've specified that in the post!

barnesy - We'll see... 8-)

I come bearing good news: a couple of the internationals will indeed be shown on TV over here! It had looked like only a rerun of the England v. NZ game was going to be shown on Monday (a day late), but today the online tv schedule has suddenly changed.

The Wales v. Australia game unfortunately isn't being shown live, but a full taped version is shown on Saturday 5 Nov at 8.24pm on Star Sports. The England v. NZ game is shown "live" on Sunday night, starting at midnight. I say "live" because at the moment it's scheduled to start 30 min after kick off.

I can only hope they'll change the schedule to show the Wales game live too - as the wife of a Welshman that's the one that matters to me the most!

Thats great news AnnaTh... great research!

I hope your husband isn't too hopeful of Wales beating the Wallabies, as he too will only get disappointed!

Heineken was being shown on Channel 113. Sure it will be again when it rolls around. It also shows lots of French games and (this week at least)one Guiness Premiership game.

Can someone let me know which channel the Nov internationals will be on? Can't find any reference, even on 170 (the Aussie channel) which carried them last year.

Aus vs Ireland is on the Australia Network tomorrow night at 11pm.

Does anyone know what/if a channel broadcasts the All Black games, eg against the Azzurri this weekend?
