i am planning to buy an insurance policy in singapore. i am wondering if i will be taxed in france for my returns upon maturity of the insurance policy. the policy will mature a few years after i return to france. i am hoping that somebody will be able to help me out with this.

In practice, the answer is that you will not get taxed, since French tax authorities have no idea that you have an insurance policy in Singapore.

This may even be legal since in most countries (with the notable exception of the US) income earned in foreign countries while resident in them is not taxable in your "home" country... but if you want to play it self, consult a French tax lawyer.

As jpatokal said I would agree that you don't have to worry about taxation here. I am not an expert tough.
Funny thing is I have recently decided to move to France and have already bought a french property and found a job there. :-) So may I ask you for help in case I need some information?
If you need some further info I might also be able to help you - have lived in Singapore for some time now.

Would be a tad too late to be worrying about it now
