Antenatal classes dilemma/recommendation?

Post by munchkin » Tue, 10 Oct 2006 2:23 pm

Hi,
I'm torn between classes at Thomson Medical and Mother & Child at Tanglin. Does anyone have any comment on the 2... or other suggestions? I heard Mount E isn't very good.

I am Singaporean and my husband is American. I am not sure if classes taught by/catered to locals are much different than those taught by/catered to expats. Any thoughts?

Much appreciated.

Hi Muchkin,

Hospital classes tend to be quite large and alot of lecture on how "you will be required to do this and that"

Independent classes tend to be smaller groups and more participant oriented. There is less lecture on what you will be required to do and more encouragement to think about what options you have and what steps you can take to achieve them

It is also difficult for the childbirth educator to address every couples needs in a large group as opposed to a small one.

Good luck!
