Advice on housing for a relocation to Singapore.

Post by RimBlock » Fri, 06 Oct 2006 12:51 am

Hi,

I am planning to move to Singapore sometime in Jan from London.

My wife is Singaporean as is my stepson. They currently live with their family.

We are planning on buying a property in Singapore (HDB) and all seems good.

The questions are;

How long is it likely to take from start to finish on buying a HDB flat after finding a property we like.

What is the best option for accommodation for me in the mean time. I will not be on an ExPat package as I am self employed (contracting). I will be made permanent around 3 months after relocating with my current company (Global investment bank). I would preferably like to find somewhere in Tampanies as that is where my Wife and Stepson live. The period of rental would likely be 2 months + the answer to my first question. I would imagine my salary to be around S$4,00 - S$5,000.

Is there any general type stores that advertise on the internet. I am trying to work out what to bring and what to sell. An idea of current prices by browsing a internet price list for a department store would be very helpful. Doing a google seem only to bring up sales boards or EBay.

Thanks for any responses.

RB

Rim - Jan will prove to be a different story from now, and you will probably be better off. Tbhe artifical shortage should have subsided somewhat by the.

Right now there is an shameful exploitation happening and the tenants are the loosers.
