Anyone a good tip for a paint and paint tools shop?
If you're talking about paints, try Highest Paints at 82 Jalan Jurong Kechil or Hardware City at 204 Choa Chu Kang Road (they have few paint shops there). They quoted me lower prices than Self Fix and Home Fix, and best of all, I could customise colour!

Seriously? I work in United Square and have been to Cold Storage many times and never seen a Homefix entrance!

You sure it's United Square and not Velocity over the road?

Yes, I can assure you. It is on right of the check-out counters (if you're walking out from Cold Storage United Square itself).

And I also know where the one in Velocity is.

Yep, a left when you walk out of Cold Storage. So both are near Cold storage?

My wife says I walk around with my eyes closed! I will be off to take a look at lunch time today :-)

My wife also says I look with my mouth not my eyes. 'I can't find xxxxx' when actually it is right under my nose

As long as I could remember both of the "Fixes" could do the same. They have computerized mixing machines and mix the paints to your color liking at the spot.

Now, I have a different problem. My walls got painted with a bit yellowish tinge of white and if I want to paint some places (i.e. after patching a hole) with some most popular whites it is clearly visible. How do I tell the shop what color I want?
Of course I am aware of colorimeters (few thousand dolars) and color charts but I have no access to it.

Any practical idea?

I've always painted the whole wall when that happens as you can usually get away with a single wall due to shadowing in the room (different planes of reflection/refraction from different walls so it's hard to tell the colours aren't the same if the colouring is very close. It's going to be virtually impossible to "match" the existing colour (at a reasonable price) just to paint a patch. It would be a lot cheaper to just do the whole section (or depending on when the room was last painted, the whole room).

Like what SMS said, you may as well do the whole section. But this time, keep a record of your colour code. So that the next time you need to patch, you have the code ready.

The Fixes have mixing machines? I hardly doubt so. Either only selected outlets have those or I must have been oblivious each time I enter one.

I just took a look and next to Cold Storage, to the right of the check out counters is a stationary store and they do speedpost but that's all.

Painting the whole wall is a bit impractical and if I use the standard white paints I would definitely see the differences at the borders between the walls and the ceiling - the a**s who painted the flat got this idea to paint the walls only leaving the ceilings untouched and sadly for them, they had to paint it again.

For our 2 previous flat I had no problem matching the colors but this one is too far off for me to make a good guess.

I think I will paint pure white on a sheet of white cardboard and then paint over diluted water colors yellow and/or black to make a simple color chart. If I find some good quality paper I can probably also do it with an inject printer.

Yeah I checked the official website. It must have been closed for the last 2 years or less.
