what about agents

As I wrote in a previous post, I am coming to Singapore in a month. I am looking for a flat at the moment, preferably a condo, for $1300 max. I have seen some on the singaporeexpats page and I was wondering whether anyone has used them as agents. I have heard all kinds of horror stories about agents and I am going to need a really good one to find me a special bargain. Has anyone used them? Tell me your experiences.

I used an agent. And I was initially apprehensive too. But the ones I used (they're a guy/gal team) were very good, professional and effective. They even went the extra mile to get me an exceptional deal, even though this effectively cut their commission.

I'm moving in September 1st.

Agents are expensive but worth it.

Remember that like everything in Singapore you can haggle the price so try as hard as you can to do so.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. The reason I am a bit aprehensive it that it seems that you can't shop around with agents as much as you can here, so obviously the initial choice is important.
